Hey guys/gals....... I just purchased a 2006 Dodge Magnum SXT, 3.5 NAG-1 transmission w/approx 140,000 miles on it. The car sat in the owners driveway since last July and worked fine when parked.

So.... here's whats going on.

When I went to move the car it wouldn't go out of 1st gear and the speedometer didn't move! Car would only go up to approx 3G's on the tach (safe mode?). Then I shut it off and next start the car would go up to any RPM but again not go out of 1st gear, speedometer did work at this time.

I should also add that the ABS light is on also......

I've asked around and got a few different answers......

Rear axle ABS sensors could be the cause? Sending a signal to the transmission telling it not to shift?

Shift module in transmission not working?

I did get two codes from my OPD-1

Code 730 & code 530.

Any help appreciated.

I have the same issue. Been chasing it awhile as it was intermittent. Finally caught it on the scanner. It loses input shaft speed. Then goes into limp. Either sticks in 1st gear and is speed limited to about 3000 rpm. Or defaults to a higher gear and stays there. The speed sensor is internal above the valve body. It comes as part of the solenoid plate. I found one for $140 on line. Haven't had a chance to swap it yet. Another week or two.

Tnx Doug.... I ordered the Speed Shift Sensor and also a set of rear axle ABS sensors so hopefully this will take care of it. Let me know how you make out and I'll do the same.
