Had a problem with main wires at bulkhead losing connection , repaired wires that were getting hot & not making connection. Now amp meter goes to full charge above idle. Have ck.voltage at battery , shows 13.5 volts, but amp gage is high . Have changed voltage regular.73 Duster. Thanks in advance

make sure you have good ground on the VR. Check your battery . . . is it weak ?? That will make the charging system charge all the time. Normal voltage when running should be 13.5-14.4volts. . . . good luck

was it full fielding before the wiring work?. In the meantime pull the green wire off of its' alt male field terminal & see if the system stops charging. eng off, pull both field connectors off & see if either male field terminal has continuity to the alt case (should not). ohm the male field terminals together to each other & take a reading. New reg could potentially be bad. A depleted battery will make it overcharge. Do not run it like this more than just a few seconds to do each test as that high of pressure will wreak havoc on the system & have all lights and accessories off when doing the running tests.
