I chucked this cam up in my lathe to measure the lobes. No cam card or idea who the mfg is.

Anybody have an idea who the mfg might be?

The numbers stamped on the ends of the cam are what you need to ID the cam. The others are just casting markings...will be the same for many cams since a lot of the cores come from the same place.

I have searched that number over and over and not found a thing.

I checked all the old DC part numbers. I also checked, Crane, Comp, Crower, Erson, Isky, Howards, Schneider, Lunati, Melling. I cannot come up with a number for this thing?

As stated, the numbers you're looking at are for the cam blank, before it's ground to a particular profile. If there are no numbers stamped in journal ends, it's likely a factory cam.

How many differences from a 440 cam to hemi. Are all the journals different?

I've been told that he lifter angle in the blocks are different, the wedge cams have the exhaust lobes first and the Hemiroid motors have the intake lobe first, not sure about other differences confused

Hemis and wedges use different lobe order as Cab pointed out. No swapping allowed. Lifter angles are the same.

Take it to someone who has a Cam Doctor and get the profile information!! That should help you find out what kind of camshaft you have!!! Good luck

I did that on my lathe with dial indicator and it's about dead nuts for a factory HEMI grind. Was basically trying to find out if it was stock or a aftermarket replacement. Given the fact none of the aftermarket mfg's part #'s are close, maybe it is a factory cam?

Great topic guys- Found this on my 426 Hemi camshaft while boroscoping to find try to identify the cam. Some research about CWC indicates they are a casting company for many years. I suspect it is the original camshaft as well but I’m still not too sure what the specs are. Tempest- did you record the specs on your cam? My motor is a warranty unit dated 1-19-70

1970 and 1971 Street Hemi motors came with hydraulic lifters stock, not solids like they had from 1966 to 1969 shruggy
