A friend had his ignition switch plug burn out. This is the plug that connects the ignition switch to the interior harness.

The Main Red power wire burnt at the connector and the previous owner used a yellow butt splice. Clearly this cant stay. I wanted to splice it together properly with solder, but before I do I'd like to see if the harness side of the plug is available for purchase. Also, what are the crimp on pins for this connection called? I've never used that style before.

I'm looking for the opposite side of that white connector.

www.classicindustries.com might have something. if you make a small purchase from them then 2 weeks later their pricey Mopar specific catalogue will arrive unannounced in your mailbox & it is a must have reference item with comprehensive selections in many categories & pics.

I believe that's a Molex connector, try here to see if you can match it:

Only source that I have found for this plastic connector, was to buy the complete dashboard wiring harness from Year 1 supplied to them by M&H who builds it. I did purchase the wiring harness as I wanted it anyhow.

M&H finds them somewhere. Perhaps they will share their source.

All the required molex pins are available in differing sizes.

That is kinda a weak spot in the OE setup. Much like the bulkhead connector. A soldered and correctly insulated connection sounds like a good idea to me. It would also not hurt to make sure any added loads like more powerful stereo ect. do not draw power through that circuit. A separate circuit with relay powered directly from the fender relay or battery is better. Key on power from the OE setup can trigger the relay but not support the main load.

Agreed. There are many poor engine performance, failure to start, and other mysterious electrical conditions that originate at this connector. A very often overlooked problem area.

I just soldered ring terminals on the high-load wires and bolted
them together, easy, effective and permanent.
