I understand, but then again I don't. You are basically putting something in your car to see how much you have to push it, to tear it up on purpose..........why? Because when you find out the breaking point, what have you proven.
Also the possibility of running over the crank and piling your car up on the guardwall. Then that little science experiment is REAL expensive. I realize ANY motor can break, but this one WILL break and you are trying to do so and it may be at a very bad time.
If you want to be THE fastest something. It can go 12s and be the fastest blue Duster, Dart, whatever, with a semi-stock 318, woodgrain wheel, sunroof and green seats. It all accomplishes about the same thing. Who is gonna argue...........LOL!!!

That's pretty quick, you mind sharing the combo? It was an engine masters build. With couple of minor changes. Magnum RT heads. Dual plane airgap knockoff intake 950 carb 231/238 hydralic cam( not a roller) the engine masters cam was a flat tappet that was 248/248. 10.44 compression. Diamond Pistons, scat rods. Cheapo 1 5/8 headers with dynomax bullets bolted up to them. 4.10 gear, 8 inch tight converter. To run better, it could use more gear, only trapping at 5900, shift it at 6200. Still has stock 5/16 fuel line from stock tank, stock fan, water pump, and power steering 3415 with me in in,tank full of gas, like I always race it, all steel, bench seat, flat hood. Cheap shocks, frame connectors. I could get it to run 11.50's in good air pretty easily, but then it wouldn't be as good a cruiser. Figure 4.56 gears , manual steering, and electric water pump and fan would get it there.

Not trying to burst your bubble here, but I doubt many people care, nor will it prove any purpose.
Putting way more power on a stock bottom end than it was designed to handle, is just a crap shoot. So it makes a 1000hp on boost before it shitz the bed........then what? you got a pile of scrap that made 1000hp before it broke. Not sure whats impressive about that. The next one may toss parts out at 700hp.
The point here is you aren't accomplishing anything other than luck of the draw.
And to be even more nitpicky........your bottom end isn't stock. You honed the block and put new rings and bearings in it. So now it's just a typical hot rod rebuild with mostly factory parts.
The guys who are harping about the "stock bottom end" stuff are the LS guys who are going to the junkyard, pulling truck motors and putting turbos on bone stock, untouched shortblocks and making stupid power........before they blow them to pieces
And my HP numbers above are just random numbers.......NO way I expect a 318 shortblock to make that power. Was just a random number, to explain that what one tolerates, doesn't mean the next one will Wow, THE Monte Smith replied to my little 318 thread!! I know nobody will care. It's all just internet bantering anyway. There's always that debate about whether rings and bearings count towards it being a stock bottom or not, and seeing as how they won't really make a difference in the power output or handling capability, I'm still gonna call it a stock bottom end. This build to me is all about fun per dollar. I just want to see how quick and fast I can go on a platform that everyone just upgrades or discards, to see if the added cost of aftermarket pistons or 22+ cubes are worth it. And if it scatters at 450hp, we get to learn about the limitations. I have a couple spare sub-$100 engines waiting in the wings. I think most low-buck Mopar enthusiasts are not running widebands or using modern tuning techniques either, just purple shafts, heavy old TRWs and lots of gear. I like doing something different, for the sake of cheapness and to be different. the thing with putting new rings, and honing the engine, even if putting the stock pistons in is, you are increasing SEAL. which helps make power. a tired engine, with worn out rings, isn't going to make the same power, if you hone it and throw new rings in it. i do think it's a neat idea. i'd just hate to see it come apart on the track, where you oil it down, and have to potential to wreck the car.

My first prototype turbo kit is on a stock long block 318. Stock bearings, stock rings, stock oil pump. Only swap is a cam timing chsin (stock was sloppy) and springs. Pretty true stock bottom end.
Will be run in a demon by the end of summer with a gt45 and e85.
Ill let you know how it goes!
