during the musclecar era a number of overseas orders for cars were made by US servicemen anticipating their return to the US.

although coded Y09 (EXPORT) these cars were delivered NEW to a US dealership.

a recent thread on Dodge-Charger about a B7/C6D/V88 440 4-spd '69 R/T sparked my interest to compare the car to a T5/C6X/V1X/V88 440 4-spd Y09 R/T I had decades ago.

looking thru my data, I found a large percentage of these Y09 cars to be painted blue or green & ordered with 4-speeds:

I now know of 22 - Y09 EXPORT 1969 cars (most presumably ordered by US servicemen) 8-blue & 5-green
2 w/HEMI, 13 w/4-speed, 3 convertibles - an impressive list!

6 - Charger R/Ts, 4 are 4-speed (2 are HEMI) - one is blue/blue, one is blue/black & one is green/black (4 are stripe "DELETE" - V88)
2 - Charger 383s, 1 is 4-speed - one is blue/blue & one is blue/black
1 - Charger 318, auto, A/C, pdb - blue/white
4 - GTXs, 3 are 4-speed - one is green/green
2 - GTX 'verts, 1 is 4-speed - one is blue/blue
3 - Super Bees, 2 are 4-speed - 2 are green/green
1 - Road Runner 'vert, it is blue/blue
2 - Dart GTS 383s, 1 is 4-speed - 1 is blue/black
1 - Barracuda, 318 4-speed - it is green/tan

anyone care to add stories/known cars to the list?

Oh
I parted out a 68 GTX 440 4 spd car years ago with that tag on it.
Not sure if I have the fender tag yet but I will look if you want the info. It was a red GTX, blk interior, dana 60, course spline 4 spd.

Are you interested in '69 only?
I restored a YO9 EK2 '70 'cuda 340 4 speed recently.

info on other years would be great also, I've only seen a couple '68s and there was a '70 EXPORT 'Cuda thread recently

as far as colors - it looks like there may be some branch pride helping to choose the colors, but it also seems like a large number of them are stripe "DELETE", maybe some of the guys had enough of stripes?

I think I found a couple green with tan interior'd cars - Marines?

I'll check with a bud of mine but I think I had another one of those. I'm the one that sold that B7 Charger to Brian. Seems like the 68 Charger R/T I sold to a friend of mine in Dallas had an export tag as well. It was a 4 speed 440 car. We have an Air Force base here and the car was one of two 68 Charger R/T 440 4 speeds that were sold new here. The export car is red with black stripes so it goes against your theory😉. Ironically, the other one was green with red tail stripe and the dealer ordered it to race at the local track. My bud from Abilene owns the green one but it does not have an export tag. I may still have a copy of the build sheet of the red car. I'll check when I get back home from vacation around the first.

What is the color code number in 1968 for Bright Brilliant Blue? I've seen a number of 1968 Dodge and Plymouth B bodys that color, it is very close to the 1969 and later B5 blue shruggy I had my 1971 Duster painted that color because I liked it more than the 1971 B5 color thumbs

for 1968 the paint codes were a single digit

a monotone paint style would be QQ1 (Q = roof paint, Q = body paint, 1 = monotone paint style)
a two-tone paint style would be BQ2 (B = roof paint, Q = body paint, 2 = two-tone paint style)

Q = "bright blue metallic" on a Dodge & "electric blue metallic" on a Plymouth

IMO it has the "brightest" IMPACT of the "bright blues", PLYMOUTH got the name right! scope

The 68 Medium blue is very close and it's common to refer to it as B5
