I've been thinking about A-body sport (racing style) mirrors. Specifically, is there anything like the car's paint code that dictates the mirrors being chrome or painted. For example, 71 B-body window louvers were only painted to match the car on certain colors. I'm wondering if the A-body mirrors have some similar restrictions. (?)
I've been into these cars for something like 30 years and I've seen many cars and many mirrors for sale, but there are some colors that I don't recall every seeing.

Chrome vs. painted / racing vs. regular remote would be on the fender tag so would single vs. dual.

If no mirror option code(s) then it came standard with the driver side non-remote mirror.

Depends on the A body in question. My 65 Cuda came with no mirror.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

Ummmm, that's kinda not what I meant. Let's say, for conversation sake... It's 1970, and you are ordering an Inviolet 71 Duster and you want painted racing mirrors. The sales guy informs you can only get chrome mirrors with that color. Sort of like if you were ordering an Inviolet 71 GTX and wanted purple lovers. He'd tell you they would only come in black with that color. We're the mirrors available in all the colors? Specifically, all the high impact colors?

I'm talking about Dusters and Demons.

G36 was the A body option for painted Racing mirrors, the available colors were Plum Crazy, Bright Blue, Bright Red, Go Mango, and Top Banana, G37 is the Chrome Racing Mirror option for A bodies selected in colors choices other than the above mentioned colors

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Is there some documentation or list of colors. I know I've seen (and own) mirrors that are Hemi Orange / Torred (71) and Basin Street Blue (72).

I've always liked the painted mirrors over the chrome mirrors. Back in 93/94 when I built my Duster, there was no question if it was getting painted or chrome mirrors. But now, I'm guessing a Bahama Yellow car would have came with chrome mirrors. I still think it looks better with painted mirrors though. I wonder why Chrysler Corporation singled out some colors for chrome or painted.

Hemi Orange racing mirrors would have been for the 70 B body option

I don't know if this is readable?...

I have a Tor-Red 71 Duster with factory painted mirrors. I don't think I've ever seen an A-body mirror in Plum Crazy.

He asked about sport mirrors which were new for the 1970 model year. ;-)
