Is it possible to determine what it originally came from? My F440 stamped block has a partial on the rail of OG109768 thank you.

1970 B-body of some type, I am sure someone else can narrow it down some.

Maybe.

Knowing the StL plant made B bodies, we can narrow it down quickly...

Possibilities include:

Road Runner
GTX
Super Bee
Coronet R/T
Charger R/T

Now we need to look at known VIN ranges to determine what it came from.

Seeking:

1969 St. Louis plant VINs, SPD, and VONs.
Over 2,000 thanks to you!

I don't see an HP on the pad, is it still possible it came from a roadrunner, GTX , Super Bee, Coronet/Charger RT ?

There's a thread down at the bottom of the page that has a link to a bunch of good stuff on IDing factory casting marks/numbers.

My late production '69 block has no HP on the pad, but it also has no VIN on the lower rail. (69 Coronet R/T)

I think it was a warranty replacement, but can't confirm since the records from the dealer who sold it new are gone (or they don't want to mess with it)It was sold New 25 miles from where I live. (I have the Original window sticker and bought it from the second owner in '84)

0G109768 - if this is accurate it would've been a "U"/"V"-code GTX or "V"-code Road Runner

are you sure it isn't 0C109768?
what's the date on the top pad?
got pics of VIN & top pad? scope

Here is the front pad, I'll try to get a vin picture in a few hours.

I have this picture on my cell phone, but I better try to get a better one and clean the C or G to confirm. It looked like a G initially, most likely a C. I'm not seeing any orange paint either.

First tip off of you misreading it, and it being a C instead of a G, is the paint on the motor , if that is factory paint it's not an HP motor.

Yes your cellphone pictures bite, that one of the vin is dark, I can't see a thing in it .

I was not around when it was painted, also, I was not sure if it was originally that color or not so my question was directed towards the vin. I can see the numbers in the picture I posted using my iPad. But agree they bite. I was Able to clean it off better this morning, it's still in the car so it was not easy at the time of the first picture. The vin is definitely an 0C. My new question now, what would this engine have come from originally? Can that be determined? I guess it doesn't really matter at this point. Was just curious. Thanks all for helping.

I've seen enough of them that what I could see in the pictures told me that was factory applied paint and no 70 440 HP engine was painted that color.

Second picture definitely is a C.
