Ok, so I'm to the point where I'm needing to get some rockers for my BB Victor project. It is a 500" Lowdeck with Max Wedge Victor heads going in my altered. Once my chassis fab work is done I'm planning on sending them to Hughes for CNC. The only rocker options I have found are the Hughes and T&D. How are the Hughes rockers? Also what ratio are you guys running without issues? Do the Max Wedge Victors need more of a rocker offset than the regular Victors? Thanks for the help.

I have a complete slightly used set of cyro treated 1.6 ratio Hughes M.W. Victor rocker arms with Manton heat treated adjusters that I will sell for a reasonable price, 2/3 cost of newup(PM me if your interested in them) I had several of the original adjusters come loose with my cam and valve spring pressures, 830 lbs opend and 7000 RPM so I replaced all the adjusters with Manton HD heat treated ones and I bought 8 new spare Hughes cyro treated rocker arms, 4 intake and 4 exhausts rocker arms but I didn't replace the Hughes locknuts so one of the new adjuster came loose runaway realcrazy I then relaced them all with a set of Harland Sharps for the Victor M.W heads and one of those new adusters came loose once also runaway shruggy
That ended up teaching me to always set them hot for racing, not cold shruggy

Did you see that the Harland Sharp rockers were better than they Hughes?

FYI Scorpion has rocker kits listed for the Edelbrock Victor heads now.

They were not out when I was buying parts for the 511" so we used Hughes 1.7's with 240 closed/740 open spring pressure. They survived the dyno test including a few nitrous pulls.

If you are using more than 750 open I think you are into T&D or Jesel territory. My next 511" engine is going to have a paired rocker arm setup however that would be overkill for a small/flat tappet cam.

I checked out the Scorpion rockers and they look nice. Has anyone out there used them? They say they are good up to 750 psi open, which seems to be the same with most.

Look like Hughes, priced like T&D.

I run MW Victors on an RB 512. I use Harland Sharps and have not had any problems with them, holds lash rock solid. Been together over two years. Just ran in Sacramento over the weekend. Not saying these heads don't have their hurdles to jump. Possible center rocker stand breaking, short spring installed height, valve cover rail position. Mine have zero port work. I'm kind of a Victor fan these days. As for rocker arms, the Sharps are slightly longer/bulkier and when combined with the vc rail being so close you can have issues with valve cover fitment. I used a set of cheap procomp covers and profiled the flange to slide straight down over the studs and has worked fine. I believe no matter what rocker you choose, on either standard or MW port, you will have to make clearance for pushrods. My pushrods are 3/8 and intake rockers are .650 offset and also run lifters with a .210"seat offset. Yours will see a bit more angle being a low deck. Sorry for rambling. twocents

Thanks for the pics and information. That's the kind of feedback I was hoping for. What installed were you able to get out of them?

(Copied & Pasted from a thread I replied to in 2014)

"Yeah, the Victors have their own set of hurdles. I run them and don't know anyone else personally who runs them but, that's the way I like it. FWIW Here's my combo if it helps at all. 440/512 Source kit, MW Victors, 274/280 .674/.674 solid roller, Trick Flow springs TFS-16943-16(which are actually PAC-1243)installed at 1.900 +or- a few .001", Comp tool steel retainers 1732-16(very compact low profile), Comp CCA-4785-16 locators, 621-16 lash caps, Smith Bros .375x.083 pushrods, Harland Sharp S70016EVK rockers. No spring/retainer clearance issues even without lash caps. I decided to run the caps only because the sharp rockers sweep the roller toward the outer tips of the valves and wanted more contact. I'm sure it's not the ideal setup but seems to be working OK. Has been to 7400 RPM a couple times but keep it below 7k now. Also, don't forget about the possible center rocker stand breakage issue. I preemptively removed the factory helicoil and drilled/tapped and installed a 1.0 inch helicoil further into the head so the top of insert is just below bottom of stand. Learned that trick here on Moparts".

From memory I was able to get 2.050 on the intakes and 2.00 on the exhaust with a +.050 lock and a +.050 Manley TI retainer on a 1.600" spring. I did use a B3 Racing Engines geometry correction kit to use these parts together. I think we made over ten pulls on motor and the lash was very stable to 7300RPM. Engine peaks at 7100ish.

I contacted the guys at B3 Racing Engines and talked to him a while about these heads and different rocker setups. They were very helpful and would recommend them to anyone. I'm still on the fence about what setup to use though, stock shaft style or machine the pads and run a paired rocker setup(like jesel).

On my newer set of heads they, I think they had longer heli-coils in the rocker stand holes.
We used PAC Ti +0.100" retainers and 0.030" spring seats to get right around 2.00" install height. The spring seats were originally 0.060", but PAC milled them down for us. I don't recall what that was extra?
