Looking into crankcase vacuum pumps and one that will mount on the water pump housing on a 426 hemi. I see where aerospace engineering makes one. What do you have? Pictures?

Thanks
Scott

Dont you drive a lot on the street.. if so I wouldnt
run a full time vac pump... look into a electric one
from GM trucks.. that way you can turn it off on the
street.... JMO.. I'm going to look into a elec one
myself... granted they dont pull as much vac but anything
greater than zero pressure is a help.. unless you built it
with low tension rings
EDIT
Oh.. forgot to say... both U will have botom... I welded
this up for a big CI race engine that they had problems
with.. we did this testing on the dyno first then on the
track... worked out great

Did some research on vac pumps a couple yrs ago. The GZ pump seemed the best for the money. I used the electric pump for awhile . it only pulled 2" of vac. As Mike said, better than nothing.

I did the same before buying mine. Seemed the best built, backed, reliable and cost effective. Depending which you get as they have a few different models. The lowest one is, if I recall correctly, based on a production body with upgraded internals. Mine is the middle which is a custom cast body and then they have a pro mod style...again...IIRC

Moroso do an adapter that mounts to the stock water pump housing

Buddy of mine uses an electric pump for a GM S10 $125 New at Rock Auto on his 900HP 565" Bullet.....works perfectly and pulls a lot more than 2" of vac...???

I've been looking into running a vacuum pump on my 572 Hemi.
On a hard pass it seems to build up crankcase pressure.

After talking to Clay Kossuth he recommended a late 90's GM electric vacuum pump. He said it's what they run on his wife Rosie's NSS car.

I need to run by their place and see how they set it up on the car. I'm planning on taking some pics of the setup and getting a parts list of what I'll need.

Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

I don't think I paid that much for mine, but anyway, I measured my friends pump first which had 2" of vac and mine was alittle more. 2 1/4 or 2 1/2. something like that. this was about 7 or 8 yrs back. never seen any more than that so I ended up selling it.

Personally, I see no problem with a full time belt vacuum pump, even on the street. If you WERE worried about it, you could always install an adjustable regulator for street duty and open it up some for street driving.

Just not a fan of the electrics. They don't do much and are just another draw on most guys already overtaxed alternators. They are emissions pumps and as such, NOT designed to draw on the crankcase.

As to what brand....Aerospace would be my LAST choice. The Moroso and GZ mentioned are pretty good. a Star Machine is the Cadillac, but will cost more
