Someone sells an enlarged T/A scoop, it looked great on 340Rick's car.

i like it, like others said i think i'd cut the opening and raise it there, so instead of the air opening being say 1" (whatever it is factory)make it 1 3/4" to 2". i have the same hood on my 72 cuda, with my lowdeck motor , ez1 heads and a victor style indy intake, 4150 carb and i can run a 2" air cleaner with a drop base bottom, we had a tall deck motor with a 440 source heads, victor intake and a dominator and you couldent run an air cleaner.

This T/A scoop looks to be a little taller. I have no Idea who makes it, the pic's from Cecil county.

Here is a pic of an enlarged T/A scoop on my buddies 70 Challenger. Under it sits a RB 496 with a victor and 1 in. spacer. He uses a 14x3 air cleaner element in a drop base. It came from VFN.

I've seen that VFN version of the "T/A scoop on steroids" for years and it still leaves me w/ the impression of my scoop w/ a bad sinus infection. Functional? No doubt. Obnoxious... and out of place on a basically stock-appearing car? Yeah, that, too.

I don't recognize the one shown on the Challenger pics from Cecil. Whomever cut out the holes in the scoop's front needs to work on cutting in a straight line, though.

The VFN is nothing like the Landy which is essentially a raised base and possibly slightly sectioned and heightend T/A. The original Landy scoop is a work of Art. The VFN in simply a sectioned/raised t/A but when this is done most of it's T/A aesthetic is lost.

Notice how much higher the Landy is above the hoodline compared to a standard T/A. Landy always had the coolest cars, I guess it was that SoCal thing.

For whatever this is worth: I like the tall Landy scoop in the very first picture. I'm not fond of the "bump" on the modified TA scoop and I really dislike the VFN version.

Yeah, pretty much my thought, too.

I found some more pics of both the "restored" hood and what Landy actually ran in '71. The "restored" version looks great, but is far more modified (as others have pointed out) than simply adding the raised area over the carb(s) like Landy actually did. The approach I spoke about with the local fiberglass guy was the latter, as I'd photo-shopped on my own car.
