I'm finally after 10 years putting my Charger back together. It's B5 blue, blue interior, black mid-body stripe, power bulge hood with black painted bulge w/360 4bbl. When I bought it in the late 80s, it had the black canopy vinyl top. The tag calls for a white vinyl top. The white top would make it stand out with the black stripes but a black top is easier to take care of. Any thoughts as to what to do about the top. This is the only time I'm doing this car and it will be a cruiser. I've thought about changing the interior to black since I have a complete black interior. What would be best? Thanks for the opinions. Here's a pic of the fender tag.

It is like telling you what to have for dinner.

I like the blue paint / blue interior. I would do black top and stripes. Neat car.

True. I'm at a crossroad on this project. I'm one who has always liked returning a car to the way it came from the factory which was my original intent for this car. It's not a car that will be a collectible and worth big $$. I'll be into this car around $6k doing the work my self since there's no rust and I've collected parts for years. The engine and trans are rebuilt already and installed. I planned on driving it to shows and cruising. I have another 74 Charger I could build as a modified car but now I'm considering selling it to concentrate on this car. For cruising, I ordered a 2015 Challenger Shaker R/T in B5 which is a blast to drive and so this Charger will be another show car and a once in a while cruiser. If I sell this Rallye Charger, would it be best with the options matching the fender tag ( white canopy top and blue interior)or as I think someone would like it? As I said, this is a one time and done for me. Thanks.

it's your car. like you said it really won't ever be a big big $$ car. finish it how you would like it.

I myself don't care for a 3 tone color cars.
I would do it with a black top, stripe and black interior.
or leave the blue interior put a white top and a white stripe on it.
i think it would really pop with the white/white on a blue/ blue car. you don't see that combo often. then if you decide to sell. the white stripe is easily and cheaply removed and replaced with a black one if the buyer prefers original. if you put a black top on it would cost much more to return to stock.
it would really pop if you put white interior in it to match the white top and stripe.

I don't think you'd regret it if you went back to factory. The white top on B5 is stunning. My car has the white canopy and the black hood inlay. So it's the "three tone" and I like it. B5 with white really "POPS" while black just isn't stand-out and kind of appears to darken the blue…

That's a great looking Charger. It gives me something to think about. Thanks.

I like the '73/4 Charger hardtop cars with NO vinyl top.

When removing the old vinyl top, I saw the vinyl is under the drip rail moldings. Without the material under the moldings, they're loose. How would that problem be remedied short of putting a narrow strip of material under the drip rail moldings?

There are different drip rail moldings for non-vinyl cars.
