It appears I may be in a pickle and need your guys expertise opinions. I had planned on using a set of used callies ultra BBC rods for my 470 build and i had them in to the machine shop to check the specs on both the crank end and the piston pin end. And my machinist reported that my small end of the rods were .002 over on all 8 rods, and my actually pin size is .990. The rods are brass bushed and if need be ill have to rebush the small ends but id like to hear your opinions on this matter, and wondering what kind of clearance i can get away with.
Running a set of forged icon pistons with a slip fit pin if that helps.
Any and all help is always appreciated
Aaron

I have all my floating pin rods and pistons pin fittd to .0008 to .0010 for drag racing and Hi Po street driving up to 8000 RPM with good wrist pins, not cheap ones tsk I wouldn't run them at .0020 tsk

Thanks Cab
Ive been in contact with callies and looks like I can get some replacement bushings for $10.50 a piece.
Callies did inform me they have alot of boat guys that run that clearance with no issues but for alittle over a hundred bucks its cheap insurance that hopefully lets this motor live longer.

JE sells oversize .990 pins. Get the oversize you need and have the rods and pistons pin fit to them.

I'm sure that by the time he did OS pins he would be
way over the price of the bushings... for me I dont go
over .0012 MAX.. usually its .0008 to .001

And thank you Mr P Body and you too dvw for the replies that info will help me get this thing together eventually

Talked with callies rep again today and im leaning toward having them replace the bushing in house and they quoted me 100 bucks plus the bushing price but im going to talk it over with my machinist and get his opinion on the matter.
