Have a Caravan that in good shape body wise and everything works. Recently I began the bump down shift from 4th to 3rd This is a 3.3 with 4spd overdrive. Back in the 90s that happened all the timeJust did a trans service 6K ago and trans has 95K.I cannot decide wether to fix it of just drive it in 3 around town until it fails. I had trans reflash done by dealer and that lessened the bump but it is still there and bumping not hard all the time. Should i change the trans sol pak that was done at 47K By the way the trans shows no failure codes or has any stored Is there a chance the motor mounts are going bad??

A lot of Caravan trans issues are fixed by changing the solenoid pack. Have you tried disconnecting the reconnecting the battery? Might be worth a try. You can also take a look at this website:

http://forum.chryslerminivan.net and go to the 4th generation forum. There is a lot of Mopar minivan knowledge over there.

Might try quick learning the PCM and reseting the CVIs or clutch volume
indexes with a scan tool before doing anything else. Many times this alone will fix the issue you are having.

Have the codes and CVI's checked first. We had pump problems that would cause the 4-3 downshift bump and it can be very harsh at times. You can usually tell by the CVI readings on the underdrive clutch pack. If its high it may need to have the pump replaced to fix it. A quicklearn is basically a bandaid as it will let it work good for a while until it relearns the underdrive clutch CVI's which can be high from a bad pump. The quicklearn will reset the CVI's and let the trans shift better for a bit but if the pump is the problem it will relearn it and run the underdrive CVI's high again and cause the harsh 4-3 downshift. all the front drive cars and vans i have owned got a shift kit installed. i have had zero issues, and contrary to all that have said i screwed up, i use standard dexron fluid. these transaxles have lasted 300+k without a rebuild and occasionally an input/output sensor or two being the only items used up. of all the vehicles i have been involved in, i had 2 that needed a solenoid pack and one that needed a pack gasket. now and again an axle seal was changed, but that was usually done when changing axle shafts due to cv joint problems. filter and fluid change intervals at around 15k or so. vehicle range from 1990 to 2002. my currant bus is a '99 shortie and my wife's car is still her 94 concorde.
