any reason why you guys used cowl hoods over the sixpack hoods

For one thing, a forward facing six pack, or similar scoop, won't stay on the car at 1/4 mile speed. They have to be extremely high to clear most carb combos. Some organizations don't allow forward scoops and here is the one that will get me in trouble....I personally think a cowl looks much better. IMO, a jacked up six pack scoop is pretty ugly. I ran the HEMI Dart scoop on my car and always hated the way it looked, plus it tried to rip it off on every pass. I like cowls.

Pretty much all the reasons mentioned. Some classes don't allow front facing scoops and we started noticing that above 130 in the quarter the scoop and hood were trying to rip off the car.

Man I remember all or most of these cars. Back when I building my Cuda I was gonna have "fit" into the True Street class{iirc} and by the next year when I was finally done building it, they went and changed the rules. Then I couldn't even find an organization that I could even fit it into..

But I do like alll those cars. I wish I had my own pics of some. The ones I remember were from the all the mags.

When you decide to quit, THAT is the moment when you would've succeeded..

Great pics guys....... you are all my heros

i have always wanted to race with the big boys but just never had the dough to compete.

I did have enuff cash for the cowl hood and 10.5 tires I just made my car look like a KOS car.

I have had plenty of people ask if its a old KOS car

Oh and I mis the cowl hood it did look sweeeet

Even tho I am a new-commer to the street/mopar scene, I'm glad I got a chance to read about you guys in Mopar Action. That mag and all of you guys were my major inspiration. Chris, i did'nt realize you were the one with that cuda!

I started a thread like this a year or two ago, and I have some pics on my other puter that I will post next time I am on it. There was someone on here that had a DVD of KoS video's he was going to burn copies of, but never heard anything more about it. I told him I would send him a DVD with some money or whatever, anyone remember who it was or have anything?

Just what you see there in the mag shot..I will see if I can crop it alittle..

It was not a B1 motor, it had 440-1 heads and a B1 intake..motor was built by Joe Chrisman at Tranzact.

Phillip Rose has those DVD's. He sells them at swapmeets and races. They are ametuer but awesome if you have any memories of the races. My twins were born in '99 so their first races were Bristol. They were in the stroller at Virginia for the only KOS race VA ever had there. There is no coverage of this race on the DVD. But, a lot of the early year stuff. My kids didn't even recognize my car it looked so different.
