The rods are FORGED. Therefore they have a FORGING NUMBER.

They all have the same forging number which ends in "908". I'd guess they were produced starting in Model Year 1970.

So 440's came with the industrial heads as well? I thought it was only the 361/413 industrials that came with the industrial top end

426 too, used the block for my max-wedge back in the 70s

I personally have never seen a 440 with the water port heads, but that sure doesn't mean they didn't make them, as a matter of fact, pretty sure they did. I just sold a 60s dump truck that had an industrial 426 in it

Ummmm, I wouldn't say that for sure. Because I have seen a mixture of those parts in non performance engines, that came from cars I KNOW the engines had not been apart in. I would bet they used whatever they had on hand at time of assy.

One thing I have learned over the years of messing with old cars and guns..........you can NEVER say never...........LOL!!!
