Not sure if this has been posted before, but I could not find it on Moparts or anywhere else and had to figure this one out myself. If you happen to need a retrofit speedometer cable for an early 1962-1965 B-Body using 1966 and later 727 Torqueflite, I found a perfect part that fits. Hold on to your chairs, it is for a '67-'68 CAMARO!!!

The original speedometer cable for my 1964 Plymouth Savoy with the pushbutton 727 measures 68 1/2 inches. I found that the 1967-68 Camaro originally uses a 69 inch Speedometer Cable Assembly. I ordered one on eBay, and installed it yesterday. It fits perfect and fits the 727 and speedometer like a glove. FYI...I tried the local Napa, Autozone, Oreilly's, ect, also, and none had a cable even close to the right length, so back to the internet for parts. This might save you some time, try these links:

Part numbers on the speedometer cable is SC-72 and W-871.

Someone posted a part number here for a Pioneer cable a few years back. Saved my bacon!

The oft-cited Pioneer CA-3004 cable is 83" long.

Not sure about your exact application, but an 83 inch cable is WAY TOO LONG for a early B-Body. That is how I found the 69 inch speedo cable which is readily available for 67-68 Camaros. It is all aftermarket stuff made in China anyway, so really does not matter what you use.

Amazon has several as well, just search for 69 Camaro. They seem to measure 68" there. $15- $40

Thanks 1964SS, that should save me some head scratching with my 65 Belvedere.

I know it's been a while since this was posted but used the 67-69 Camaro in my '63 Dodge today with '70's transmission and it worked PERFECT! Steel ends and much shorter than the Pioneer that shot craps.

$35 through Ricks Camaro parts.

I'm happy the advice about using a 67-68 Camaro speedometer cable in a 62-65 B-body worked for you. One of these is still working great in my '64 Plymouth Savoy, which uses a 66-up 727.

From Brewer's Website:

http://www.brewersperformance.com/proddetail.asp?prod=SC1605

SC1605 SPEEDOMETER CABLE 1962-65 B-BODY USING 1966/LATER TRANSMISSION
New speedometer cable fits 1962-65 B-body cars when using 1966 & later transmissions. Correct black housing, 75" long. Firewall grommet NOT included.

75 inches is too long in my opinion as the original was 68.5 inches long. Problem is making it fit and work with the extra length that is not needed. I would get the 69 inch speedometer cable for '67-'68 Camaro and call it good. It works.
