anybody seen this? These guys run a 50 Dodge PU at 24 hours of Lemons events. Funny and slow. But it ran the entire race (24 hours) and finished mid-pack. Anybody know the owner? I'm bias because I have a 51.

I'd love to hear what they were using for a drive train in that.

I had a 54 Dodge truck with a 165,000 mile 360 2 bbl, 727, 2:76 rear geared 8 1/4 and a Volari front clip that pulled low 18 second quarters, first time out! By the end of the day, I was down into the mid 17s (4 runs, total)! I was going faster on the highway getting to the drag strip (1000 miles from home) then the truck was was going down the quarter. It was a great driver, but not much of a racer. It was all in great fun! Gene

ricksterhemi, yea, that's what I was thinking too! That is why I was wandering what the Dodge truck had for a drive train. That 4 cylinder Pinto motor can be built to make some serious power, but they don't have a long life expectancy. I could see a flathead 6 with 4:10 gears being whooped by about everything, but would it run all day long without issues. Think 50s NASCAR and the poor flathead 6 Plymouths. Would explain the mid pack finish. Still putting along long after some of the built up stuff blew up. Gene

Probably a 230 flathead six, lucky to have 65hp when new

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

The truck had the original engine. On the "LeMons wrap up" it won an award and they said it was slow but ran all 24 hours w/o breaking and finished mid-pack. I think it blew up a few races later and the replaced the flat 6 with another flat six they found in an airport tug...
