or maybe we know how to put enough power to the ground to snap them like a pretzel yea you guys are probably the only ones on the planet who know how to set one up
Oh Great One; Why do you bother posting about this? You don't even have a car. And what in the crap do you know about putting power to the ground? You drive a friends 1000 lb dragster with a steam roller tire and all the weight over the rear axle. How hard is that to make hook. OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH If you could read, I said I know of many cars going eights and nines at over 3000 lbs. So Oh Great One, you think these guys don't know how to put power to the ground? And most of these guys I know are small tire guys that probably have better 60 ft times than that thing you drive. You should wear a bowtie, because you fit right in with that croud.
where do you get your info from?

All you mopar bashers are getting real old. Everything has its limits. The 8 3/4 will take more than it's given credit for. It's just as strong as a 9" pc for pc, period. Is there more pcs available for a 9", yes. So you spend mega coin and you got what you got, same as anything else. And then you have to be a smarta$$ and say to Thumper; add 500 lbs and come back and see us. I got news for you mr chevyman/ford9". I know of a 3650lb rr as we speak that has an 8 3/4 in it that is the original rear with good axles and a spool with one good cap, and runs 10.50's all day long and has done so for many years. Like I said before, put them together properly with good parts and it will be fine. Will it break someday, I'm sure it will, but so will everything else that is made by man. So be nice for once and give credit where credit is due... If you want to be a hater, go drive your bowtie/ford and get on a bowtie/ford board, cause we all know there are plenty of them. Us Mopar guys need to stick together as a team, because the odds are already stacked against us.

if you have ever read any of these threads you would know I have said the same exact thing many times. as far as mopar bashing goes we are talking about race cars and race parts.yes the 83/4 does have it's place but there are far better choices out here for a race car.so all the hype gets somebody to spend their hard earned money on a choice athst not really suited for racing. why do you think mopar went to a truck rear end (dana)? I guess you think that is mopar also. and if you reallly knew me you would know this is all for fun so don't take it so serious

I managed to break my 8 3/4 years ago, but it was under a 3500 lb. Road Runner with 9" slicks and a 4 speed. A buddy of mine with a 1600 lb dragster blew a stock 8 3/4 to smithereens but it was behind a 900 HP BBC. My old 3400 lb Cuda with a mild converter and almost stock 383 ran a very old well used and abused ring gear in it's 8 3/4 and never gave me any reason to worry. I believe the 8 3/4 in stock form is much stronger than the Ferd 9" in stock form. If you spend the money on the 8 3/4, it will last a long time, same as with the Ferd. A Dana needs very little in the way of aftermarket upgrades to live forever, in most applications. IMO, if you took the money you would spend to beef up the 8 3/4, you could buy a fully set up Dana 60. Danny

Oh jeez...now we're getting in a gun fight over the 8 3/4 vs Dana60 debate..lol
This debate has raged on for years. Its like: do you prefer blondes or red heads?
to each his own, that said, I sold my 8 3/4 for a dana60 because I have a heavy car(challenger). I have a dana in my cuda because it has a tranz brake and 900 HP.

why do you think mopar went to a truck rear end (dana)? I guess you think that is mopar also.
TRUCK Dana 60 = NO snubber pad.
CAR Dana 60 = Snubber pad provision.
I can tell them apart Quicktree! Now... what other car (or ANY vehicle) came with a Dana 60 rear with a snubber pad provision? List them all please, aside from the MoPar CARS that we already know.....
I know you are smarter than that. the dana was adapeted from a freakin truck rear. Ford and chevy had them in trucks long before they ever found their way into a mopar car. Chrysler had them fitted for snubbers so they could be used in cars becaue they did not have a rear stong enough for thier 4 speed, hemi and big block cars. if the 83/4 was so great why did they go through all that trouble?

"Adapted from"? It's a different rear, and a VISIBLY different rear. Same INTERNALS.
So how many other vehicles, ASIDE FROM the MoPars that we already know had Dana 60 rears with pinion snubber provisions?
A pinion snubber provision on a Dana 60 rear IS what makes a MoPar automotive Dana 60. I knowww you are smarter than that Quicktree!
(Would you sell a Dana 60 TRUCK rear on Ebay as a Mopar automotive rear, WITH pictures? I bet you would get an email or two correcting your... mistake, if you did....)
geez you try to spin it how ever you like, dana has never been or never will be a mopar rear. they are purchased from dana to mopar specs. doesn't make them mopar. and you never said the reason why dana rears were in mopars to begin with? why would they use them when they had 83/4s?
