I've blasted the inner and outer shafts' surfaces and will pour hot plastic into the two holes on each side of the outer shaft. This will "fix" the combined overall length of both shafts, but still allow the inner and outer shafts to collapse on impact. However, I need to set the overall length of the inner and outer collapsible shafts before "fixing" them with hot plastic. (The grooves in the inner shaft that the hot plastic fills are about 3/8" wide, so I can't tell exactly how far to insert the inner shaft before fixing it.) What is the overall length (from end to end) of an assembled inner and outer collapsible steering shaft for a 1973 Charger with power steering?
