What have people been using for valves, springs, locks and retainers on the Appache Heads? What lifts has anyone used with stock valve train?

No reason to not use the stock hollow stem valves IMO.

I bought mine from http://www.factorymoparparts.net/

If you're planning a build with a bunch of boost you might be better off going for the new HD RAM big gas heads. 2015+ 2500 ram should have them.

Totally agree with above statement. Actually I would buy these heads even for a NA setup, just because of the better material and beefier construction.

68238142AA pass side and 68238141AA driver side, according to the website listed above. Dont forget to add the core charge to your purchase price; it would need to be the same casting to submit and if you already had a set you wouldnt need these. $150 per side

I believe that most think the Apache is a better head, but not by a whole lot.

Lots of fast guys here running eagle heads.

Apaches have bigger valves, 2.14I vs 2.055I, bigger chamber and the valves are Hollow stem (lighter). That is good stuff, but in the grand scheme of things until guys start to run cams in the .700+ realm the Eagles,6.1's and Apaches will all perform pretty equal with work done to them IMO. If building a big inch, 400+" engine, I would vote Apaches with a .600+ lift cam and some porting work. If building a big boost or nitrous engine with same size cam I would go with 6.1's or Thiteks because of valve selection and chambers would allow more piston thickness vs. compression.

Do not swap the hardware. The factory stuff is made by Ferea and it is their 5000 series. You'll only be going to chinese stuff if you swap it out.

Use a PAC 1220 or 1520 with a BBC spring seat with the ID opened up.

I'm using 1220 springs on my 5.7 eagle heads with a .610/.617 cam.

My Build thread: Let the hemi swap begin!

1968 wanna be pro touring whatchamacallit with some fancy stuff and a new roof skin.

Do the eagle heads have enough meat in them to resize the throat to accommodate bigger valves?

Manley offers 2.08 valves for eagle heads, how they fit the bowl I can not answer

The reason I ask is because you can always use a bigger valve assuming you have the material to resize the throat in accordance with the bigger valve. If that material is there, there's not much point in getting the stock APACHE heads if the plan is to CNC port them anyways. Assuming your not going the boosted route.

stock Eagle valves are 2.08 I'm pretty sure. The reason to buy the Apache heads is to get a decent valve with the head already and last time I checked they were around the same price

Stock intake valve on eagle is 2.050
Ray,having ported both eagles and apaches do you have flow numbers for both heads measured on the same bench and same bore?
