Are the BB bronze distributor gears the same dimensionally as the stock steel(iron?) ones? Or do roller cams use a different size as well as material? Market research on my part. TIA.

I would think they are the same but I dont have a pair in the shop to measure. I would think the factory would make them the same due to a cost factor, make everything the same is easy

I would think so, too, but just thought I'd check on here. Thanks!

I have found that the drives are the same, that only the shaft is longer on my mag drive (on right)

Thanks for the confirmation, guys! If things pan out, you street guys wanting to run roller BBs will have a better(far more durable than bronze) part soon. One less thing to worry about going that route.

Let me guess....
It will be made of high density plastic.

I looked into making the composite gears last year but found the proper material was more than 10x the price of bronze. Maybe you have found something cheaper. I would love to get away from the bronze Good luck.

If you mean the carbon ultra-poly material, yes, that's what I'm looking into. It costs more, but then, it doesn't wear out nearly as quick(if ever). Haven't been serious about it for awhile. Last time I was, I couldn't locate a raw material source. I admittedly didn't look very hard. Seems to work well for the ford, chevys, pontiacs, buicks, etc that they're otherwise available for. I realize SB mopars can just use the factory Magnum part for the gear in that application. I'm just surprised noone else has filled the niche already.

I got a piece form a place called poly-tech in North Carolina. It was about $50 for a 2" piece to make a prototype gear and that was a deal because he had an off cut laying around.
I'll check that out!
