Hello
Need to replace my A/C belts. They are totally stretched and keep flipping.
440 Magnum 1970.

Any ideas on good original looking belts??
Is Quantas producing better quality these days?
Thank You

I think Goodyear makes belts too. Don't know about the quality of them though.

Don't waste your time with them. They are junk and have been flipping and stretching for years. They No body buys them any more if they intend to drive their cars

To get a quality belt with pentastar, it was suggested here that maybe you could convince a dealer parts desk guy to find an OEM V-belt that is the correct size. The belts might need to be measured if no size chart exists.

If the dealer still has V-belts, maybe they are later applications like Jeep and can't be identified by the 1960s-70s muscle car part numbers.

Thanks for the help.
It looks like the best option is to run quality belts, if driven.
I've tried to keep all looking original under hood.
Does anyone know if the white paint on belts ca be removed?
At lease it is all black. That would be preferred.
Thanks,
Mike

If you end up buying a aftermarket belt and it has white painted numbers or a company`s name printed on the belt that you don't want seen, you mite try going over it with a black marks-a-lot a few times to cover it up. Just a thought.

Yes, you can remove the ink from a new belt. I did it on mine. I don't remember exactly what I used but it wasn't difficult. I might have rubbed it with paint thinner or acetone.

Ah yes, the good ol' Quanta stretching stories. I had my share of those woes. My alternator belt came off which got between the pulley and made the power steering belt come off. Its a shame they didn't fix the issue. Just another crappy repro part out there that no one decided to fix and take our hard earned money. I run Gates now if I can find them. Originality is nice, but then again, having a car stay driving on the road is nicer !

Does anyone here know the Gates part number for a 1969 440 fan-alternator belt? I`m told it measures something like 3/8" by 46 inch. Is that correct? Thanks.
