A tunnel ram will not fit, There is an edelbrock inline dual 4 intake that is a nice performance piece, but it only fits two eddy carbs.

Ditch the plates and go to port injection?

Depends. How tall is a 440-15? What car? They also make a taller version of the six pack scoop.
I have a Weiand "tunnel ram" in my 1968 Barracuda with a standard six pack scoop. But I converted it to port EFI with a shortened six pack air cleaner. It barely fits. The EFI throttle bodies are shorter than a carburetor.
In the third picture you can see the air cleaner stud when you look through the scoop opening. There is about 1/4" clearance. I also added a picture of the six pack air cleaner when we were fitting the hood, we had to cut some structure towards the back on the bottom of the fiberglass hood to make everything fit.

It been out of production forever. E-Bay, Racejunk or they turn up occasionally here but they have got stupid $$$. I have seen NOS ones listed for $1500.00 and they seem to be in the $700-$800 range used on average. Here's a link to Don Dulmage's website where he fabbed a 2x4 top for it. http://www3.sympatico.ca/big-d/2X4.htmKevin

Mopar part # P3690982 http://victorylibrary.com/mopar/weiand-c.htmI bought it on E-Bay June of 2013. I also got kind of lucky, his reserve was not outrageously high, the auction ended mid day on a weekday, and there were no other serious bidders. I had been keeping an eye out for one for several years, they are not easy to find. Mine was new, I had the seller ship it to Bruce at F&B Performance who did the EFI conversion. http://www.fbthrottlebodies.com/Bruce will sell you a brand new 440 6bbl intake converted to EFI in the same fashion. Should be no issue with hood clearance. But, this is not a tunnel ram. This is the EFI set up that is on the Year One '69 Road Runner 505ci engine. http://ghostworks.yearone.com/1969-road-runner-convertible/The Weiand tunnel ram intake has runners tuned for a 440. The runner length is too long for a 500ci engine, unless you were building an engine for a truck used for towing. EFI likes camshafts with more LSA (112-114) and good idle vacuum. Makes it easier to tune. Not impossible with lower LSA, just not as easy. I am looking forward to tuning mine. 108 LSA and solid lifters. Found a better picture:

If you are talking about an A12 hood scoop, this one fits as it was made specifically to be Superstock legal. Available in single 4 and 6pak only so you would have to built a 2x4 top for it.
Kevin Will it fit under the A12 scoop with an air cleaner? Back in the 80's I used to help someone at the track that had a '70 Cuda with this intake. Air cleaner did not fit so he did not run one. Obviously not an A12 hood, but I do not remember which hood it was using. Still a valid question, this intake is much taller than the stock 6-bbl intake. Paul Rossi ran it in his '70 Challenger with a T/A hood, he is the one who was responsible for getting Weiand and Mopar to make and sell this intake. I have not seen any engine pictures of his car, so do not know if he ran an air cleaner or not.

OhioGTX has an M1 tunnel ram in his 9 second GTX, it fits under a 6pak scoop but I do not know if he runs an air cleaner or not.

Update: I went with an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and Holley 850 Ultra XP carb. It also has a NOS plate and a 1" phenolic spacer. All of this with a large oval K&N 3" air filter that with filter base and lid is 3.5". This all clears the 6 pac scoop hood with no issues at all. [img:right] https://youtu.be/kBW-RntRiHQ[/img]
