I sent an email to SMOKEYMOUNTAINTRADERS awhile ago about a 70 they had with torquer 2 rims....i think the size was 275/50r/17 rear,225/50r17 front

my car has the springs in the orignal location and the quarter lips have not been rolled

I don't know the offset

Wheels and Tires American Racing Torq-Thrust II polished front 17x7, rear 17x8. Tires: Nitto NT 450 Extreme Performance 275/50R17 V Speed Rated, Nitto 555 Extreme 235/45ZR17 W Speed Rated. I'll have to look for the offset. My springs are in factory location, but I do have Doctor Diff 10.5" Cobra discs on the rear.

On my '70 I run 235/45/17 front on 8" wheels and 265/40/17 rear. Tires are Dunlop Star spec 200 TW tires. BS on the front is 4.125" and rear is 5.5" in AR "salt flat special" wheels. Front fenders are "hemi type" and relieved at the top inside. Rear wheel lips are ground a little narrower and suspension is lowered a little from stock.

It all works well driven hard... though done again I would go with 5.25" BS on the rear and 18" wheels.

When pushing for max tire width, it really helps to measure using a test wheel/tire to dial in backspace. Most wheel manufacturers will make the wheel to your backspace specs.

275/40 17s on all 4 corners of my 71 with a stock type suspension. 17x9 with 5" backspace. As long as you don't have fast ratio arms on a non-ta box you won't rub the inner frame rails. Had 245/45s on 17x8s with 4.5 bs and room everywhere.

old rims, currently have the 5 spokes above. Will be switching to 18s for road tires as the 275/40s are 25.7 tall and a little buzzy on the highway right now with a 904 and 3.23s (and I'll be swapping in 3.55s in the future)

There have been several pics posted with 18's on the rear... maybe one of the owners will see this. One consideration is the spare... I set mine up so front and rear diameter were very close and the spare is a front.
