This is hard to believe but, I bought a new set of B1 Original heads and valve covers from Koffel's last year. Now I find out their newest valve covers that came with the heads don't offer the needed clearance for a MSD Distributor. Koffel's said they're still working on the VC problem but said a regular Chrysler distributor will fit with a crank trigger setup. Well I don't want a crank trigger setup due to the significant added cost. I want to use an MSD which I already have. A friend told me an older version of a B1 valve cover is different and would offer the right clearance with the MSD. Finding one will be the issue.

Any of you guys have some idea where a person can find valve covers that will work on B1 originals with an MSD distributor?

On some of the heads the head itself interferes. Just grind a tad off the edge and it will work fine. A nuisance yes, but not a huge deal

Thanks Al for the quick reply back. I did grind a substantial amount off the valve cover and keep grinding until the MSD distributor would fit in place and rotate a tiny bit for timing. Now however, there's not much of the valve cover left to seal to the head surface. Maybe an 1/8" left to seal to the head. I'm pretty sure it won't seal up with such a thin amount on the valve cover left to seal w/o oil leaks.

I'm trying to figure out here how to attach a couple of pictures for you?

Tall or short deck? If you use a tall deck dist with the adapter in a short deck it raises the dist up where the valve cover requires very little clearance. On my tall deck motor I ended up buying a NRC offset dist. I think Indy sells them now but at a large mark-up.

As Al says, it's usually just a light grind on the head and valve cover. It should have been fixed by now but as they say, that's racing.

Good Morning Dart 451. Thanks Much for helping me out and sending the picture.

I believe that's what I'm lookig for. They look correct.

The valve covers Koffel's sent me look like INDY valve covers with the B1 name on them. Anyways-YES I'm interested in buying them. Can you contact me privately?

I have a set of those as well powder coated black. Not so easy to find these days for sure. But there are also 2 versions of those...

One is tall and one is shorter. The tall ones are definitely not as easy to come by.
