I have had a vibration in the front end at speeds of 70mph plus. sometimes it would really happen on nice paved roads, sometimes and lower mph on really crap roads

well after changing lower control arm bushings and lower ball joints the vibration is still kindof there. Then I noticed my rack and pinion has slop in it. I can move the front right tire in and out a good bit. maybe 1/4" maybe more. Is the rack bad or is there something I can do to fix while in the car?

I had hit a terrible pot hole back in 2014 and think that is what caused this

Sounds like a bad inner or outer tie rod to me? When you rock the wheel back and forth can you see the outer tie rod move up and down in the joint? If so, then the outer is bad. Usually the inner just screws off the rack, though some have a roll pin that go through, just pop the boot and see what style you have.

I agree with the inner tie rod, pull the boot back and then shakedown the front end again, you will likely see movement there.

If the rack itself is sloppy that may make it wonder but probably not shake. Agree tie rod ends and LBJ (already replaced) are most likely.

Also, a slightly undersize journal on the spindle can do it or slight oversize on the bearing. The wheel bearings should fit snug. If not start measuring. I had this problem and hard to track down.
