Wanted to try this cam in a stroker motor
Comp cam 23-713-9 Hyd roller
advertise duration is 292-300
>050 duration is 242-248
valve lift .549-.544
intake center line is 106
Edelbrock 72cc heads that have been cnc ported
Now my question is how much compression can I go with this cam and still make HP? May use a Victor intake. street/ drag.

That cam is similar to one I run on a 496.

In general, more compression will make more power up to about 15:1 but will need high octane race gas to avoid detonation/pinging. To manage detonation getting the quench dialed in to about .040" really helps. Simplest way is to set it up so the flat of the piston is even with the deck and use a common .040" head gasket.

With that, compression in the 10.2-10.5 range should be OK on pump premium assuming you are running AL heads. About 1 point less with iron heads. To get there with a stroker, you will need a "D dish" piston.
