All

I need some pictures of an unrestored tire inflator to see how far up the bottle the label was placed and how the factory stamped the date code on the bottom.

Does anyone have a few pictures to share?

This is the one that made it into production.
I have seen the label and sleeve all the way to the bottom like this original and up about 1/2 inch higher than that.
Date code shown on bottom picture

Most if not all of the repro bottle decals have the color blue too dark.
It is more like this and as shown on the original above

Thanks everyone...I really appreciate the photos. I'll place my label no higher than 1/2 inch from the bottom.

BTW...Where can I purchase the label with the light blue ink? Looks like the ECS label uses the dark ink...

It's odd a question was asked about the sleeve position/date coding and the topic changed to the reproductions being "too dark". Anyone who knows the printing Industry understands that color density can slightly vary between production runs. Every original that is documented today has been exposed to 40+ years of environmental factors. Below is one of the original examples that I used as a reference. Notice the darker blue coloring that was erroneously called "too dark" by mccannix. I used the darkest sample of blue ink found on an original and bumped up the density slightly because Ink does not darken over time. It fades. Also notice how the blue coloring even varies on the same decal.

I doubt anyone would say a 40 year old newspaper with yellowed paper & faded print looked that way when it was new. The same logic applies here. Notice the photo posted by mccannix. Does anyone think that the tire in the picture was worn off when it was originally printed? If that was used as a format, would anyone suggest that the reproduction be made with the bottom half of the tire worn away? I would think not! We manufacture reproduction Decals that represent new originals, not old examples that look faded from 40+ years of being exposed to wear & tear.

Here are a couple pics of a (45+ year old NOS?) inflator bottle. scope

Compare the blue on the label with "USPS blue" on the box & "Corporation blue" on the '67 Valiant price guide.

There is a wide fade line vertically thru the middle of the price guide (& it's 48+ years old), but I'd bet the original spec. of the printing on the inflator bottle label was "Corporation blue".

You are 100% correct! One other aspect to mention here. The picture of the light blue reproduction decal posted by mccannix has MANY incorrect features. The fonts are wrong! The image stroking is wrong! The illustrations are wrong! The line spacing and kerning is wrong! When you have that many things incorrect, it loses its credibility as a reliable source for documentation. It makes no sense why anyone would use an example so horrendously incorrect to try and prove a "correct" detail.

Nicklas' post above & my pics got me wondering, are these both NOS or is one of them a "clone"/reproduction?

Sorry Dan but I take it very personal when someone insinuates that we are making the "incorrect" examples while the incorrect ones are being touted as the "correct" ones. I personally designed ALL of the artwork on every single decal offered to the Classic Chrysler market. I spent THOUSANDS of hours documenting and collecting FACTORY information/blueprints on the original designs. I have to laugh when the "experts" find a few junkyard examples that probably sat in rain for 40 years and then draw definitive conclusions based on their limited knowledge. Then they try to pass the information off as correct and re-write history. Yes Dan, I take it very personal and always will. That's why we offer the most correct reproduction products to the Industry.

Jeez Dave , first off welcome back !
Now to get down to reality, I can almost see that vein popping in your neck as you type.
As Dan states you've got to learn to 'relax'.
First of all at no time did I mention ECS when talking about the labels.
I have actually purchased a few from you because I believed you had the best example out there.
The picture I show is not one I make, I reproduce no decals,
none, 'nada'.
Nowhere did I say anything about fonts, spacing, kerning, I merely showed a color of blue that I believe was close to original.
Since Dan has shown an NOS one, I stand by my statement that it is a closer lighter color.
Now I've gotta get back to that junkyard so I can re-write history.

Don't flatter yourself. I find this amusing. You might want to make an appointment with your optometrist however. If anything, Dan's NOS examples were DARKER BLUE than the "worn" original (dark) example that I posted. It's hardly the "lighter" version that you delusion-ally "stand by". (lol)
