I have never run a PTC.I will NEVER run another dynamic.
My feelings as well......dynamic is by far the worst convertor company I've dealt with. Here's my story: After spending $1800 with them on a convertor(initial cost plus it had to go back 2 times)and less than 20 total runs........all I got was a piece of junk. The stall speed was way off every time it came back from them by up to 1000 rpm.......the hub register that sits in the back of the crank was real loose and sloppy......it was 1.800", you could move the convertor up and down quite a bit before the convertor bolts were in. All the other convertors I have measure 1.810". Shaun told me to just put a piece of plastic between the crank and convertor hub............real professional! We cut the convertor open (4 runs after it came back from them the last time) and it looked like a 3 year old bent the fins with a ball pein hammer.....what a mess.........the work was disgusting.....I have pics somewhere. I ended up writing them a letter explaining how disappointed I was with thier work. Then I gave the exact same info about my car/engine to a different convertor company and they nailed everything right the first time.
I had very similar issues with Dynamic as well, I will never use them again. I run JW's and PTC's. Both provide great parts and are good to deal with. The PTC is probably just as good without question and is a little cheaper, but I like my JW's also.

Is there anything wrong with ATI?
It really doesn't matter whether you win or lose… as long as you look good doing it!

No, They rank up there pretty high too IMO! In my neck of the woods. ATI/TA/DYN are some decent verts. And there are others that are equally capable. mike

Turbo Action and ATI are the ones that my Super Stock and Stock buddies and I are using. Also Munsinger converters in Chino, So. Cal. He is a one man shop so getting a new verter soon aint gonna happen. Very good stuff however. I sent an 8" converter to Lenny/Ultimate via the USPS and they lost it in shipping. One of these days Lenny might just get my converter at his shop. Its sitting at a USPS warehouse somewhere collecting dust. I was looking forward to trying Lennys stuff. Oh well..next time.

I used to have a PTC convertor, till it broke.
Here is what i have found, and its borne out by an expert who cut mine open and showed me how, where and why it failed, and how a premium unit wouldnt have
The "cheapie" PTC convertor(the like 699 dollarish 8 inch)isnt made as well nor does it have the same quality of components as an ATI/Turbo Action Unit. Those cost more money , to be fair, than 699 or so.
In short, you CAN get a good, well made convertor from PTC, but the one they make that "seems" cheaper than the others, is in fact not made as well.
You need to spend ATI/Turbo Action money with Ptc to get a comparable quality convertor.
My point in saying all this(and i speak from experience)is that the base PTC isnt as good as some others, so you arent really saving money on it if you require a high quality piece.
My advice, spend the extra and get a higher quality PTC if you are making serious power, or get(at that point)a comparable piece from any of the other big convertor makers.
I bought the budget 699 PTC piece, thinking, wow, i saved 200 bucks, guess what, i didnt...........

I agree as i bought the budget ptc and my car went from spinning the tires on the street with the stock converter. then wouldnt even chirp a tire with the ptc. the "street" converter was junk. i have heard the more expensive ptc converters are awesome though.
