Just got a new 8" from Kenny at PTC. Gave him my combo specs. He said a 10" wouldn't work for me and suggested an 8". When I got it its got 6-12 after the PTC8TF. what does the 6-12 mean? It's going in a 3000 pound duster back half car, foot brake 904 also built by Kenny, 420 smallblock eddie headed mech. flat tappet hughes 264/268 @.050 motor. It has 12:1 compression, ported M1 intake and a 950cfm Quickfuel Q race carb. Dana with 4.56 gear and a 31 x 13 tire. Knowing the specs what do you think it will flash to. Kenny didn't tell me what it would stall to just that it would be right.

Did you dyno the engine.... max torque would tell
him a lot... you would be better off to just call
him and find out the specs on it... I've called
turbo action on a couple of my convs to see what he
figured the stall would be at a given torque
wave

Not sure what the heads flow. They where a stage 2 hughes port. Since then I have added a 2.08 valve and cleaned up the short turn. This motor with a 2.02 valve and 10:1 in a 3200 pound Dart ran 10.40's witha 727 4200 converter.

No this motor has never been dynoed. Only an educated guess based on et. I know based on this part # there should be range just wondering if anyone knew?

PTC wont even tell you. I just went through this with them last week on a brand new converter. I had one built for me last month and tested it last weekend and called to verify the specs. I was told they couldn't provide them. A part number was just a part number and if I need i looser to send it back and they would loosen it up. I have had good experiences with them in the past. They missed on this converter and I am not real happy with the answer I got from them.

I am sending it back with a note in the box with all my specs and ask that they call me with the specs before it leaves.

6-12 refers to the stator and turbine and is for their information as to what's in it, as far as pitch and blade count.

If you ask them what pitch and blade count the stator is, they will gladly tell you......although it won't mean much to many.

Based on information given, they select a turbine, pump and stator that SHOULD deliver the reaction they want. Notice I said SHOULD, because there is no certain thing with converters. You tell them you want 5500 or whatever......does NOT mean install this part and that part and it is 5500 behind every motor.

They don't miss them often, but it happens. They just built me one for a 876 cubic inch nitrous motor that was a little too loose.......but I AM the one that told them what stator I thought I wanted and we missed it a bit

Thanks Montie, I talked to a friend of mine who is a PTC dealer. He said based off the 6-12 part # and motor combo he said his best guess knowing how Kenny builds them for similar apps it will be around 4600-4800. Which is pretty spot on where I think max torque is on this motor.

Kenny built one for me a few months ago and it was just what I asked for.

The PTC convertor in my Cuda was spot on. I mean dead on. I told Kenny about my stroker combo, gearing and what I wanted to shift at. Installed and bam right on, was shifting at 6300 and crossing the stripe at 6300.
The one for my brothers car was a little loose. Well very loose. He shipped it back to PTC the convertor was tightened up and he is now very happy. Been running it for 3 yrs now I believe.
I just put one in my 67 Belvedere hope to have similar results

Ok

Kenny nailed the first vert i bought from him. It was awesome.

But....he missed the mark by quite a bit on the vert i had him build for my sis pickup. Slipped like a 1980s GER special. Said that was the best he could do. Not good....
