Does anyone know what the story is with these nos tail panels that are popping up on ebay?? Are they legit? Maybe reruns? Seems the tail panels , trunk pans, and trunk extensions are plentiful

The parts are legit. One major seller has a ton of NOS sheet metal. More and more NOS parts will be hitting the market as the older guys get out of the hobby. So, that is good news for people that want OEM Mopar.

China is the enemy.

Have to be careful in this day of the $$ is everything.
Several years back some "NOS" Cuda trunk pans seemed plentiful at a major show.
After one sold, out would come another one.
Red oxide Primer and silkscreened number looked a little too fresh.

I've even found the odd vendor to have repro parts in NOS part numbered Mopar boxes.

I agree Terry, not one of the NOS trunk pans that I saw at a "major vendor" place a couple of years ago had the vending code stamped in them. I had an NOS trunk pan 22 years ago and it had one, just like all the original pans in the cars. Funny how most of the stuff arrived on the scene around the same time as AMD...

Yep, if you measure the quarters on an original car, the one side is shorter than the other. I have x4 original quarter Cudas, they all measure the same. If you stick your hand behind the very end of the rear bumper, you'll find one end is closer to the body than the other.

I agree Terry, you've got to be VERY careful when you're parting with your cash. I saw at the Nats this last year that there seemed to be three different big time vendors that were working it together. I think there is more than a little collusion going on with these three guys. I think that one guy will have NOS this or that (that really isn't NOS, it's just made to look that way), and the other two clowns will sell his NOS crap that really isn't.

If you guys that are doing this are reading this, well, the jig is up. I at least know who you three clowns are, and the thing is, you have NO idea who I am.

I look for the die stamp numbers on NOS sheet metal pieces from the early 70's. I believe there should always be these stamps on sheet metal pieces, even if it's lightly stamped? Has anyone else seen this on the true NOS pieces?

I think the word "always" should be used carefully when addressing Chrysler OE parts from the 70s. Case in point, I had probably the last NOS quarter panel for a 70RR convertible in captivity until it went on my car in 2011. Nobody has ever reproduced them. This panel had a stenciled part number, no die stamp anywhere.

iagreeThis pretty much sums it up.
I can say with certainty that any of these items being discussed here are not AMD pieces stripped, primed and numbered.
The "NOS" trunk floors appeared a while before AMD arrived on the scene.
The "NOS" tailpanels ..likely around the same time frame

Watch for more "NOS" coming to a show near you up

....for now,
once this thread gets read, they'll likely get added.

I'm so leery of buying anything NOS these days especially if its a repoped part, like NOS center caps with or without boxes, I'm sure the true mopar parts professionals can tell but I couldn't.

I know of a fellow in NY that has (had?) a pair in his basement and another set mounted on a V-code ragtop.
