In the past I have used with good results Duplicolor Chrysler blue engine enamel spray paint.
Now looking at there Orange paints and they list two,
One is DE1652 Chrysler Hemi orange and the other is listed as DE 1622 Chrysler orange.
Which one would be correct for a 340 going in a 70 Swinger?
ANY insight is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Jeff

In don't know Duplicolor paints but Street Hemi Orange is what you want and it will be the one that has more "red" in it.

Going by the cap pictures on Summit.com it seems at least to my eyes and monitor that the Chrysler orange has more "red" to it....
I'm also up for suggestions, Going to look up Plasticote 226

I sprayed out a few spray bombs recently trying to match color to my engine components and here are my observation. I tested MOPAR Performance, Dupli-Color and Plasti-Kote, comparing each to relatively protected pieces of my engine components as well as the six barrel air cleaner lid in various lighting conditions, lighting can really make a difference when trying to compare paint shades.

MOPAR Performance was a pretty good match to the engine components, but a bit dark to the air cleaner.
Duli-Color was my least favorite being darker than my engine components and much darker than the air cleaner.
Plasti-Kote was just a bit brighter than engine components but almost a perfect match to the air cleaner.

Of course should you change your mind most will swear by Frank Badalsons acrylic enamel to match the engine color, but you will need to spray this with a gun.

Since I have an AAR my plan is Badalsons paint for the motor and Plastic Kote for the air cleaner.

I've had very good luck with Bill Hirsch engine paints. They seem to hold up very well and doesn't burn off the intake crossover like most others. John.

Out of the three rattle cans that you mentioned, I have had the best luck with Plastikote (bought out VHT ) 226. I have used the VHT paint on everyone of my vehicles and have had nothing but great results. The proper key is to make sure you prep the area very well for any paint. Any grease, grime, oily film, etc will cause nothing but problems for you.

Jeff when I freshened the Demon's Engine the MP stuff had the best color and the Plasticoat always works well but a little lighter.
The now a days MP stuff is what I would use if you have to spray can it.

The mopar performance orange paint must have been improved. The paint I was getting in the nineties was a milky orange. I found the plasticoat hemi orange and went with that since.

Yes it has, I was surprised myself too. See my picture above.

That looks nice, the original paint on my 71 340 looks almost more red than orange, I know paint usually darkens with time.
