I ordered one so I will see soon enough. BUT while I WAIT.

anyone run any of these?

anyone run the pro-comp HEI vac dist?

anyone run on of the GM HEI dist for the RB mopar engines?

seen a few at the swap meets and a few in some of the cars at shows but not sure how well they hold up.

55$ for a cast HEI or the GM/mopar HEI dist

the billet RTR dist for 75$

the cast housing HEI dist look to be the same thing as converting a stock dist over using a GM module and alum heat sink piece.

the module is 14$ if it goes out. and a dist only cost 55$

the GM HEI mopar dist looks like it is as easy to curve as a chebby or MSD

When I see HEI I get visions of a distributor cap only slightly smaller than the platter Mom used to serve the turkey. Good to see they made it a wee bit more compact!

Rick Ehrenberg says that the MP distributors made by Mallory are very prone to spark scatter. While I sorta understand this, I am sure there are thousands of guys running MP distributors that seem to be pleased with them. I don't know what effect that has, maybe on a higher HP build it becomes an issue?
Anyway, that HEI looks nice. luck

I know the GM cap with coil is huge looking but 34$ will replace all of it with a new coil if it fails. unlike some of the others on the market.

I do not care for the chebby look of the cap but sure know I never had trouble with a stock GM HEI dist in the mud trucks.

they would run under water till it suck it down the carb.

and talk about bang your head on the hood when it would shock you finding the bad plug wire by hand.

looks tall enough it will clear my stock heads and VC.

when I hear HEI, I think of the large cap/coil or the module itself. which I think why the small mopar dist is called a HEI due to the GM module being used.

I have one, and burned out the module twice. Then I went to an MSD setup. In all fairness, I was also having some electrical problems at the same time, so it may have been that causing the modules to burn out. In either case tbe MSD did not burn out even though I still had the other electrical problems. Now my elec stuff is all fixed but I dont want to switch back.

Our experiences with pro comp HEI (GM) distributors is REPLACE THE MODULE before it leaves the shop. Doesn't matter whether its a new install or the car came in with one for other issues. Change the MODULE.
Otherwise no issues. twocents
