Yep, just took it to the track 2 weeks ago. Keep in mind that I don't have much drag racing under my belt but I managed to make it down the track without hurting myself or anyone else. I made a total of 6 passes just to make sure the car was A-okay. ( it did break a little )

First pass got a decent burn out but since it was the first run I just wanted to take it easy. R/T .156, 1/8th 7.63, 1/4 14.47, 89mph.

2nd run: R/T .152 1/8th 7.45, 1/4 13.53, 87.67mph (Still short shifting into 3rd and cruising to the line)
3rd got a bad burnout tires spinning all through 1st gear: R/T .243, 1/8th 7.78, 1/4 12.28, 108mph
4th run: good burnout R/T .124 1/8th 6.97,1/4 11.96 114 mph (still short shifting into 3rd gear)
5th run: good burnout R/T .198 1/8th 6.73, 1/4 11.61, 107 mph.

The last 2 runs the MSD box seemed to be cutting out over 4k RPM. The battery was draining and I didn't bring enough tools to check it out or fix it. Figured I'd pack it up and crawl home. I drove the car there and my headlights were dimming to almost nothing so I just drove with the parking lights on.

So I have a little bit of work cut out for me. Tech inspector asked me to put the battery in a legal box since it's in the trunk, need metal valve stems on the wheels, and few other misc. things. Overall it was a blast and can't wait to take it back next month.

After you get your electrical system under conrol (I'd start with the ballest resistor, alternator, then the voltage regulator with a charging problem) check your fuel pump and fuel filter, it could have been from lack of spark with a weak battery but that sounds like it could also be starving of fuel at higher rpms under load.

If your charging problem started after the relocation you also could check voltage drop over the alt/bat run. I know some people just use a #10 or #12 wire for that. IMO at least#8 should be run back to the battery from the alt even better #6. Can't have enough grounds either...just thinking out loud, I'm sure you'll nail it down...

11.61 already. You gotta be happy with that for a baseline.

Wow, cool car!
What size rim/backspace are you running on the rear?

Again, awesome car!

rear rims are a 15 x10. backspacing is 5.75. There is not much room on either side of the stock wheel wells but it does NOT rub. The outer lip was tweaked in a little and the inner/trunk area was sledge hammered in But like I said that was they way they did it back in the day.

FYI This car will be driven up to Mopars at the Strip.

I really like this! What did you use for the subframe connectors?

Greg Fernald @ SS and AFX ( www.ssandafx.com ) did the subframe connectors for me since I can't weld to save my life.

Question: What is a good rust preventative for the bare metal behind the door panels, under dash inside trunk area ETC? I recently moved from Phoenix to South Florida and I don't want to see this original bare metal get any surface rust. The car is not in Florida yet and I'd like to prevent this before it gets out here.

Someone suggested Pledge since it is silicon based wax but it'll be a [Edited by Moparts - Family Friendly Site - Keep it clean] to get off should I ever want to paint the car.

Thanks

Hello Kevin,

I came across your awesome machine and am wondering if it's still turning heads out in the Chandler area. I have an uncle who lives out there and there's little doubt that he's seen your nice wheels out on the town.

Keep her looking nice!

Brian

Hi Ed, thanks for the quick follow-up on my inquiry. Yes, she's looking awesome and thankfully in good hands.

Hang in there,

There are lots of choices in that area, most are topicals like Pledge, WD-40, Wax, or my choice, RPM (from ECS) etc. If you paint it down the road these areas could left bare metal just as they are now, or you should be able to prep them properly with a light sand/scuff and a good wax & grease remover, no big deal.

Well the car never made it out to Florida. I moved to a peninsula off the coast of Stuart Florida and we barely made it two years there before moving back to the Phoenix, AZ area. Car is back here enjoying the dry desert air. But sadly I think the time has come to sell it. When I first bought the car I had 3 kids that I was a Foster Parent to but I know have 5 kids, all adopted and part of the family for good and I just don't have the time to drive it. I hope someone can really appreciate this car for what it is.

See if i can figure out how to add a youtube video of it driving.
