I am going to be installing one of their Mark IV under dash units in my 65 Polara and was wondering where the most painless location to run the lines thru the firewall would be.

I want to use a bulkhead fitting and the stock heater will still be in place.

On my 66 Chrysler the stock heater box is the size of a house furnace and when I installed the EFI, I had a hard time finding a clean spot on the firewall to put the harness thru.

I'm hoping the cable operated heater box has a little more clearance around it than the vacuum one does.

Anybody ever done one?

Kevin

This may not give you the info you are looking for but when I added A/C to my car I did an underdash A/C/Heat combo unit so I removed the factory heater. I had to make a blank off panel for the firewall when the factory heater was removed and I put my bulkhead connector there. I used one of the streetrod type bulkhead connectors that had 4 ports for the a/c lines and heater hoses. Removing the factory heater opened up a ton of room behind the dash and left room for the all of my relays, EFI ECU, cruise control and other items.

mine isn't a markIV but this is where the bulkhead fitting lives. Mine is heat and air also so my original heater box is gone also. Car is a 65 Newport

Thanks for the replies. Once the stock box is out of there it opens up a bunch of space to put the bulkhead.

I would have liked to went with the all in one unit but I didn't think the A/C BTU's were up to the task of cooling a C-Body wagon.

Hopefully someone will chime in. I'll be scanning the C-Bodie at Carlisle for inspiration too.
