The truck has been in field for 5 years and just got a new engine trans and rear end in it over the winter. Any guess's on what it will run?

1999 Cummins 5.9, 47re trans stock, 3.55 limited slip rear, Edge juice with attitude set on kill, cold air intake, 4" exhaust with 5" stack. Your guess is as good as mine. The tranny is the weak link here and I think it is going to hurt my times. Just going for fun to see what it runs.I have been street driving it and it definately pulls hard on the big end. Makes 33 p.s.i boost and runs real cool egt's.

Shouldn't you be closer to 40psi? Does the Edge boost fool?

I dont know if it is a boost fooler. I just want to get it to the track and get a couple runs on it. My plan is to build a good tranny put bigger injectors bigger turbo add more fuel but I know if I start cranking it up the tranny is not going to last. It is super fun for a daily driver. Gets a lot of looks and the fuel economy is awsome!

It all depends how brave you are with the trans and how hard you're willing to leave the line in 4 x 4.

The more boost you build/harder you can hold the brakes, the quicker it will go.

I've had Mid 15's and high 14's in the same truck, on the same day, just by getting after it harder.

Should go in the 15's pretty easy, might go in the 14's if you leave hard enough (and the trans stays together).

33psi is plenty for a HX35 turbo. Much more then that and they get pretty inefficient anyway. Also, that is enough turbo/boost to cover the fuel you have without too much issue.

It is a boost fooler by the way. The pump will usually start de-fueling in the 20psi range without it plugged into the map sensor.

The truck is a 2 wheel drive 1/2 ton short box. it weighs 4100 lbs with the diesel . it was originally a 3.9 v6 , 5 speed truck with no air and roll up windows. It is hard to build much boost with it not spinning the tires. We will see. Like I say its just going to be a weekend for fun and not pushing anything to hard. Just by driving it on the street I can tell it needs a manual valve body with some more positive shifts and so I can get it into high gear as early as possible because it seems to pull the hardest when you get it in high gear under a good load.

I dont think you could get a diesel in a reg cab short box of any year. Let alone a 1/2 ton.

So is your edge on level 5 or did you buy the level 6 unlock?

Both are capable of killing the trans.

A soft launch will save the trans and rear end. Get it into high ASAP and hang on. It will easily do 15s or better. Good luck

You can make anything you want, like he pointed out he made that truck what it is up I hope that 1/2 ton frame works well and doesn't end up hurting him luck

Lol you quoted the OP, I think he was informing someone.

For the record there's quite a few half ton swaps over on Competition Diesel.com and they seem to hold up.

I'm going to guess low 14's to mid 13's

Do you have the HX35 or HY 35 turbo? My 01 auto truck came with an HY and I put a kit on it to block off the waste gate. I could still only get about 25lbs boost. I switched over to an HX35 and blocked off the vacuum line to block the waste gate, and I could get 29.5lbs of boost then.

It wasn't radical as I had a Smarty set on 7 and a set of RV275 injectors. Ran it that way for about 50k miles before the tranny gave up the ghost. Put in one of Dave Georond (SP) trannys with billet converter and it is still going strong at 300k. We retired it to pull cow trailers on the farm and it will still roll coal and hall azzzz. Never put it on the track, but I suspect it was a low 15 sec ride. Of course it was a quad cab with 3:54 gears so not exactly set up for a quarter pounder....

I suspect you will be in the mid to high 14's. You will have traction issues.

My EGT's would get up to just under 1200 when I made a blast on the street....That was pushing it in my opinion. If yours are staying low, then you may need more fuel.....

Well after three days of running the truck the final outcome was a 14.04 @ 94 mph. Best 60' of 1.83. no the truck is not on hot unlock it is just set on level 5. It ran consist 14.30 until I wired the torque converter lock up to a switch then it started coming down a little. First pass with the converter on a switch I locked it as soon as I got it into 3rd gear and it ran a 14.11 and the next run I switched it on as soon as it hit 2nd gear and it went 14.04. then the final run I was a little late on the switch and it ran 14.07 and I lost 2nd round of eliminations. I dialed at a 13.99 and ran a 14.07 with a .075 light to his 12.0 dial and he ran 12.05 with .079 light. All and all the truck made it through the weekend with no issues. The only problem I can see is for some reason it doesnt smoke. A diesel that doesnt smoke is probly not making a lot of power from what people are telling me. And when I say no smoke I pretty much mean none. I am not to worried about the rest of the truck and the frame. The truck has had 5 different engine in it and ran 11.50's for a while with no issues at all.
