I'm having a hard time locating a65-67 b body housing either 8 3/4 or Dana for my e body. Truck Dana diffs are easy to find. So is there a good base vehicle to grab one from ? I'm after a 3.54. I want to keep my wilwood disk brake kit so I want to cut one down and get aftermarket axles and get new bearing ends for the housing.

You have already answered your question...get a 3/4 ton Dana 60 truck housing, cut it down to fit, use big Ford housing ends, use sealed Ford bearings on 35 spline axles, use a PowerLock diff carrier for strength & longevity, 3.54 or 4.10 are easy to find to match the carrier, you will have to cut your driveshaft 1.12" to match the longer nose on the Dana, pinion yokes are available new in different sizes (use the strap style if you can) and make sure your u-joint matches the yoke, DAMHIK all this stuff.

I don't think ford ends accept my disk kit for 8 3/4. Or does it?
Looks like no. Mopar ends I guess if I want my brakes.

The Dana 60 pickup husings come with several different axle tube O.D. and tube thicknesses, that being said the Dana 60 Mopar passenger car Dana 60 had 3.0 inch O.D. tubes. I've been told that the Dana 60 in some of the later 1/2 ton Ford pickup with 5 bolt patten wheels have 3.0 O.D. tubes in them also scope up I've bought two Dana 60 3/4 or 1 ton single wheel housing in the last month from a local junkyard, both of them had the 3 1/8 inch O.D. tubes in them. I'm building a 1966 Coronet deluxe that I bought a Dana 60 out of a van that has 3 1/8 tubes and it cut down fine and fits in that car excellent. I've owned Dana 60 that had 2.5 inch, 3.0, 3 1/8 and 3 1/4 O.D. tubes in them shruggy IHTHs up

There is a Dana 60, 4:10, Trak-Loc in my '74 W200 Dodge Power Wagon, but it's not for sale.

When I made a Dana 60 Truck-to-Car conversion 12-years ago, I got the donor Dana 60 out of a '72 Dodge B300 Van. It had 4:10 gears and a Trak-Loc.

It cost $73 at the local Pick-A-Part, Floating-Axle, drum-to-drum.

I had a donor 8 3/4 housing in my collection, so cut the bearing ends off and a local shop grafted the ends on, inspected and checked the tooth pattern/setup, etc, for $200 total.

I had a set of 30-spline 8 3/4 aftermarket axles (which fit the 30-spline Dana 60 Truck differential). Had to have one axle shaft cut shorter by an inch.

35-spline axles are better. To install, you need to buy some 35-spline side gears. I just saw a New set of side gears for $100 on eBay.

Keep in mind there's no snubber mounting provisions for the truck dana if that matters to you...

True, no Snubber mount, though you can machine (or have a shop machine) flats and drill / tap the 3-mounting holes to allow normal pinion snubber mounting. Dr. Diff has converted them in this way.

Another option, is to mount an adjustable pinion snubber to the strike/reinforcement plate on the underside of the body above the differential, then the bump-stop contacts the upper side of the differential housing performing the same function.

79- down ford trucks work well, and 89- down dodge vans and trucks work too. Make sure the housing says "60" on the lower rh rib on the center housing near the cover and it has 3" tubing, and you will be able to install mopar ends and keep your Wilwoods. You will have to be quite sure to square up the ends of the tubing as there's no margin for error, so measure twice and cut once! As far as a pinion snubber mount, you can weld and machine, or fab a mount.

Strange makes Mopar housing ends that will accept the bigger (ferd) 3.150 bearing. Part number H1147
