446 cid, ported RPM heads, 10.2:1 compression

Solid mechanical Comp Cam custom grind:
duration @.050 intake 244 exh 252,
LSA 8 degrees,
Gross valve lift intake .520 exh .541,

Edit: LSA 108

8 degrees? Maybe 108?

Sounds like a 3500-6500 rpm power range with that engine size.

Sounds like the Comp XS282 cam...as said 5800-6200 is where it will max out at.

I'm sure you understand that they don't really "start" and "finish" making power. There will be a range in which that combination will make the most average power. Obviously, the range that matters is defined by the shift point and shift recovery rpms. If you are back into the converter after the shift, you need to take that into account.

So generally speaking, that combo will probably make peak power at 5800 - 6000ish, IMO. Best et might be a shift as high as 6300 to 6500. I would think that motor would feel pretty sharp at anything above 2500.

I had a 446 on the dyno in March, 9.5 compression, ported 456 heads, mopar mechanical cam http://www.summitracing.com/parts/dcc-4120661ac/overview/make/dodge It's on a 110 CL but very close to yours. It made 500 ftlbs of trq @ 3500, with a peek of 544 @ 4600 and over 500 hp. from 4900 to 6400 rpm. with a peek of 520 hp.@ 5600 rpm.
This was a refresh on a motor built in 1987 from the pages of Mopars engine book, TRWs, blueprinted bottom end, very basic.
Your 108 CL will narrow the power bands 300 rpm. or so.

Thanks all. I just ordered a 9.5" converter from PTC. Advertised flash stall around 3800-4000. Is there a calculator for how much rear end ratio and tire size affects the stall speed? I have 4.11 gear, 15x10 wheels, and I can fit up to 30x14 drag radials. May go as low as 28x12. Not sure what my optimal is

its the rear end gear ratio in the dana. It's either 4.10 or 4.11, I can never remember, but my memory is leaning towards 4.11. they're so close I dont bother trying to remember it exactly and just type the first one that comes to mind

Moparts tech page, visual speed/gear ratio/tire size portal. May help you get closer to your goal. Otherwise, talk to the manufacturer of the converter
you are purchasing, give them the specs of your combo and go from there. Once the selection has been made, FINE TUNE the combo for best power/performance, without running on the "ragged edge"! Good luck.
