Hey guys my A12 is about ready for its trans. Dudek built the engine with a Mr. Six Pack cam and stock manifolds on it and I talked to Dave about a convertor and he said use a Turbo Action 17501 but they are ALL sold out and have been back ordered for months with none in sight.

That is what I would like to run but without one available I called Bob since he made the cam and he is a great guy to talk to and he said get a convertor as close to a stock 383 convertor as the cam likes a tight convertor. He said it does not have to be a big fancy convertor as loose is not good for this cam. Anyone know what the stall on a stock 383 convertor is? And who stocks a comparable convertor?? Thanks for any help

You can buy a converter across the counter but there are a lot of torque converter manufacturers that will make one for your car. They will need a lot of information (Motor size, cam specs, rear end ratio, car weight, car use, tire size and more). Even if you want an across the counter converter, it's always good to give them a call. Like everyone else, I have my favorite companies. My last converter was from Perfect Converter of Cleveland and I couldn't be more pleased. Great customer service too. I'm sure others will chime in with their choices and maybe some companies to steer clear of also.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.
