Holley Terminator EFI

642 LB-FT @ 4,900 RPM and 657 HP @ 5,800

With a 509 Hyd camshaft and OOTB Ede RPM heads... Hmmm... Something seems strange and it was dyno'd at Koffels.

I saw that buildup too. Not the first time I've seen an engine make BIG numbers (too big) on Koffel's dyno. fan

The RY45 article is worth reading. It is really impressive how much work goes into a new block for NASCAR racing. Which someone would do 1/10th of that work on a new Mopar big block casting. It would be nice to have a new block that had been designed by engineers using modern tools.

I learned a long time ago that some, maybe most work magaizine writers tend to embellish results for more impresive and shock value, maybe like fishermen and golfers are known to do shruggy down twocents I've had freind and fellow racers that had street and stip cars that where featured in magazines years ago, the drag test where done at the old LACR track near Palmdale ,CA in the Mojave high desert, the actual ET and MPH where adjusted(and maybe embellished somewhistling) for track elevation and weather conditions according to the magazine writers when questioned about the actaul time slips for the car that day compared to what was written in the articles shruggy Believe nothing you read or hear about cars in magazines or anywhere else on TV or the net you don't see the actual results yourself up twocents

Peak Torque RPM 4900 with a 509 Cam? If I remember it right Bill Bagshaws motor in Car Craft peaked at 522 lb/ft at 4600 RPM with the same lobe on 108...I would expect the torque to peak at maybe ~4100-4200 with that cam at 499 cubes and small port heads

Read the RY45 article. 436 inch engine with single 4bbl and it makes 900 hp at 7500 rpm. That is some impressive cylinder pressure! I can see how 436 inches could make 900 hp at 9000 rpm, but getting it done at 7500 rpm is off the charts crazy.

The 499 article was well done. Lots of nice pictures and good information. Really a well written article.
