Could I get some opinions from fender tag experts please. I bought the car and enough of the numbers match that I'm happy it's a 4 speed, 440 SE. Just wondering about the codes on the tag. Just PM me if you like as I don't like people who might be making up tags to know what is wrong if something is wrong. I won't be bummed out if the tag is made up in spots but I just want to know.
Thanks Sheldon

I am by far no "Expert", but it looks good to me. You will need sunglasses when it drives by!

Can you take a closer picture with a flash ? It's way to dark and small to see anything clearly.

My own belief is that it's a repop tag because of it's condition. I guess I'd like to know if the codes are plausible or not. I think if the codes were faked that they would have added something more interesting like a shaker or PW or something rare like that. As I said the car is cool enough by what can be proven, it's just I'd like to know an obvious fake code or sequence if there is one.
Thanks Sheldon

Why are there 2 of the same codes twice? V1W? That could in itself, indicate its a real tag, as I don't know of anyone that would be making a fake tag, doing a replication of a code. I would have to know the exact condition of the car before restoration, before saying a tag is real or not. If the car has rust, and has a tag that nice, I would have to wonder a bit. If the car is rust free, then that tag seems to match that type of car. That car cant be from Chicago

Sometimes you can not go by the condition of the tag. I judge this on looking a many cars that have Battery acid all over that side with a lot of hood, fender, wiring, and tag damage and have perfect inner fenders on the right side. The Tag that was posted after the original posters tag might of had some acid damage to this part of the car or it just is rust period. Is this the only plant that doubles up on the Roof code on a fender tag if it has a V roof. The E Plant is an odd ball plant not matching a lot of other plants in the Chrysler System with a lot of their build and the fender tag from the E plant looks like it is its own animal.

Yes: Car will be totally stock except a 472 with a set of Tim's Stage V's. Stock Hemi exhaust and intake. I might do a Vanke mod on the intake and if that doesn't do it I'll bolt on my Rat Roaster. The car has subframe connectors installed (which is something I wouldn't have done myself) So some stickies will be on the back as well. I have a date code 440 for it in the future though and will collect the correct carb, manifolds, distributor etc.

I think nobody wants to step on Sheldon's toes but I think its a repop. I needed to see the back to confirm what the front of the tag was telling me. I am not up on what codes should be on a L.A. tag so I can't say whether it's legit or not , especially without seeing the car before any type of resto was performed.

Thanks Sheldon The things I can see being changed on a tag for a car like this would more likely be a color change ... inside , outside and the vynil top from F8 ... change from an automatic to a 4 speed and adding the super track pack ... possibly the rallye dash too. It might be too early for a shaker ?

It's not coded for N96... Anyhow, it LOOKS too clean for my liking but I thought someone would be able to come up with something more definative but maybe no news is good news; nobody seems to be saying there are incorrect codes, the spd or VON doesn't fit, etc. etc.

The stamp on the 18 spline is good so I'm not worried about that at all. I think if anything was embellished it would be the colour. Not going to worry about it anyway. I'm putting a real shaker on the car now too, It's easier than trying to find a factory bulge hood in good enough shape to make me happy and then getting the colour matched. Too old to screw around with body shops.
