I just bought a fresh 440 shortblock with a 280-.474 purple cam and am thinking about throwing my 915 heads on it and dropping it in my 75 Newport for a little barge bashing.Compression is on the low side so I am wondering if I should degree the cam in to a 104 intake centerline or where?

Ideally I would run a smaller cam for the barge but I hate to buy another or break in a cam when this one is set.

I agree, if using a new timing set cam will retard with chain stretch.

Have a great day
