I'm in need for a windshield wiper switch for my 81 club cab. I've checked with all the local parts places. It doesn't show to be available. What's a guy to do? I've looked on ebay, but can only find a used one. Help

Is it dash mounted still? Might it be the same as earlier cars?

I've never had one fail on all of these trucks I have owned. And I'd bet we use the wipers up here 100's of times more then you do in Texas. smile I've gone thru many headlight switches, but never a wiper switch.

Look at the part and see if it matches a popular car switch.

Ya,switch is in the dash. The problem is that the wipers won't turn off. The rest of the switch works perfectly. Spray, high and low. Just no off.

Out of curiosity, I did a search myself....

I guess ALL vintage Mopars are now show poodles? Didn't matter if it was a truck or a car, I can find headlight switches no problem, but, ZERO wiper switches.

shock confused

I'd be willing to bet it would interchange with a '70's A-body switch. Later ones had electric windshield washer built in.

Aside from that, and going used, maybe a generic switch? Its a pretty basic switch, here's one I found:

Wiper Switch

As an aside, I had an '84 that needed its heater control panel replaced (fan switch overheated and took it out). Came to find out, it was identical to one I had in my parts stash from a '77 FURY (B-body). No mods at all to install it.
Chrysler wasn't known to reinvent the wheel every year when it came to stuff like this, so, chances are good you can find something off an earlier car/truck that will work.

So this is a 2 speed wiper switch? Do you have a part number?

I just realized that it is a two speed with delay.there are a couple of numbers on the switch, but I don't know if either one is a part number. One of the numbers stamped into the stand is 3747333. The other is cast, 23199. There is also a four digit 1082.

3747333 is a good number. Valley vintage says they have 2. Arizona parts says they have 5. Silkes auto has 4. Just look them up on the web and call to be sure that this is the number you are looking for.

Have you done a check of the motor? The service manual lists a procedure for "Motor will keep running with switch in park or off position" If not I can type that out for you too.

Shouldn't someone who restores switches be able to fix the one you have....??

Was 81 the first year of the different dash? Isn't the wiper switch different then the older ones?

It should be the side to side, horizontal movement type of switch and may be a problem with ground, the motor, or delay module, and not the switch at all. Me thinks.

The manual list many different "Conditions"
This is.....Motor will keep running with switch in park or off position.

Look at the motor with the motor on left and the 4 wire plug pointing down to the right. The terminals are from left to right L, P1, P2, H. They may be marked on the plug.

Procedure....Remove wiring harness (Plug). Connect jumper from terminal P2 to terminal L (On motor). Connect second jumper from terminal P1 to battery. If motor runs to park position and stops, switch is faulty. If motor keeps running and does not park, replace motor assembly.

Thats all there is to it, let us know what you find out.

Make sure the motor is getting a real good ground, our mopars are bad for the ground strap on the motor not fully grounding and causing this issue. test with a jump wire from battery ground to wiper motor body, repair many like this.

I would check the motor as suggested. It has a park system to go though. It's not just a matter of switching off the power with the switch.

some of those older ones had a "park switch" in the wiper motor problem may not need a new dash switch!
