Hey! You could be #1!

Clean up your shop and all the parts.

Get a real tripod for your camera.

Figure out how to get the lighting right.

Write your own magazine article.

I think the reason is that the 3.9 has such a solid reputation as a dog, that nobody wants to put the time into it. Also, the thinking goes replace the V6 with a 318 or bigger V8.

Only reason was my Dakota project runs and drives now a was wanting to pep it up while I decide what to replace it with, don't care about the labor or cost as every thing but the headers I can reuse on the built engine, And think it will surprise some folks and just be fun to do. And If I hurt it so what didn't buy it for the engine anyway.

Sounds like you'll be making a homemade kit. That's how all turbo installations were, back in the day. I had a friend who turboed a 1600cc Datsun pickup. He had the boost knob on the dash, often had to fight the urge to twist the screw when stopped next to a hot car at a stoplight.

That was before intercoolers were commonplace.

For the level of power you're realistically going to get out of it before tearing into the engine, you can build a very simple and easy small block that will drop right in. No endless fabrication, no tuning, no boost referenced fuel system, clean, no piping, nice and simple/clean under the hood. That would be my guess as to why most don't turbo the 3.9.

From what I've read of the turbo slants, many(not all) are done by guys who think they can't do an engine swap or are too scared to do an engine swap.

I've done everything from back half 4link cars to head and turbo work on 3406b CATs,
Not scared of fab work, engine swaps are easy, anybody can make a 604cid fast or Hemi or 440cu SB, just wanna see what it will do before it pukes.

I think you should try it Randy. You can learn on this motor and then transfer most of the stuff over on a different motor. I have a 360/380 hp motor I would like to try a turbo setup on also. I just need something to put it in to learn the turbo stuff. Fabrication would be no problem to me, I had to build my headers that are on the motor in the D50.

Wish I had the money, that would be a good idea. I already have a money pit now.
