1987 Dodge D150 with a 318.Block is cracked and leaking at a busted freeze plug.To big to fix.
Will a 360 use all the 318 accessories in the truck or is anything different(oil pan)?
Balance different from 318 to 360 (for converter's sake)?
Are the LA heads exhaust ports the same dimensions as the magnum exhaust ports?
Would an 87 truck tranny be a lockup converter?
Thanks in advance. (1) LA/LA yes 360 pan is different (rear half moon cutout dimention) all use the same front tcover so front half moon the same (LA) & as you know you'd want an identical rear sump (I'm assuming). (2) 360 LA would be externally balanced (use 360 converter or the B&M one with the cutout). (3) I think the mag ports are pretty much the same (wait for clarification) (4) dont know

2bbl 318's have smaller intake and exhaust ports than 4bbl 318's and 360's. Mostly because 4bbl 318's got 360 heads.
Odds are good the exhaust manifolds will be 360 port sized anyway. They are on cars of that time frame.
Other than a new oil pan and addressing the torque converter balance the swap is simple. All the accessories should swap over. The engine mounts will be different, the driver's side on a 318 is a bit wider than the 360, but a 1/2" nut works as a spacer to fix that.
They say there are no such thing as a stupid question. They say there is always the exception that proves the rule. Don't be the exception.
