Larry has been porting my stuff for over a decade. He does all my stuff. His ability to match port volumes and blance between ports is uncanny. You will not be disappointed.

After talking to a bunch head guys and engine builders I shipped my heads and intake to Larry Smith today. He wasn't at the shop when I called so Hollis gave me his cell number. I called and left a message explaining what I was looking for and within 10 minutes he called back. Super nice guy, he was on the phone with me for probably 15 minutes and answered all my questions.

Hollis also gave me Mark (MRL Lifters) number and I spent about 20 minutes on the phone with him. Another very nice knowledgeable guy who doesn't care to answer questions.

Hollis, you are A-1 in my book up. Thanks for hooking me up.

I also have to say thanks to Brett Miller for telling me straight up he was to busy to do the work I needed done and answering a ton of questions. I'm still afraid of that 4.25" crank deal though. biggrin

Doesn't CARE to answer questions, or doesn't MIND answering questions? I believe you meant the latter. grin

Must be a regional thing, "doesn't care to help" or "doesn't mind helping" are the same thing around my part of the country. Very good guy regardless of the verbiage. up

I think you're right Bobby. Hollis answered bunch of questions and explained some of stuff to me also. I felt bad taking up so much of his time and not buying anything from him. I will go through him for my lifters and will see about pistons.

I talked to Rod about a crank today, thinking about a 4.125" instead of a 4.250". This should be a fun little engine.

Stock block I'd go 4.125/6.200, Race Block I'd go 4.25"/6.25" 0r 6.300" with a SRP NASCAR Style slipper skirt piston and a .912" pin, still gives you a decent 1.15" CH

I remember Ron Silva built that 501" SB beast with a 4.500" (rifle drilled mains) crank

Always wanted to do a Resto Block with at least a 4.185" bore size and throw that 4.25" crank at it.

I threw the 4.25" in that W2 440"/360 just cause I'm never gonna rev it past maybe 6000-6200

Stock small block mopar will fit the 4.125" stroke crank with 6.200" rods?? what about piston crown with that combo?? is it like the "426" stroker kit where the piston crown is thin and can't run more than 150 shot or boost on the combo?

my 440" W2 has 6.200 Rods and a $.25" stroke.

Hollis and I went with a SBC piston to get the CR like we wanted and wound up having to give it a new set of Eyebrows.

Hey Wize, if I remember specs correctly, it is an Icon 4.060 bore piston, we used.A 1.265 comp. height, which left .009 to cut off stock deck to achieve 0.0 deck @ the 18.6cc stepdish. Pin holes are pressure drilled with .927 pins. Material is 2618 alloy which is better for boost/nos. Ring pack is conventional 1/16, 1/16, 3/16 and top ring was still a good .200ish from piston quench. Although same valve orientation as sbc, we used oversized 11/32 intake valves, on a 15degree over the 23, along with the relocation of the w2 is where the valve relief fly cutting acured.
