I guess it's time. Any recommendations for a wideband brand and model. I'll temporarily mount it in both my cars until they're right and then remove it. I don't need a data logger, I can take someone along to monitor if needed. They're both street cars in the 11 second bracket. I know nothing about them so any recommendations would be appreciated.

I don't have one, but I have a buddy that has one of these. I did some research this winter, and when I do find budget for a wideband, this is what I'll get.

I have the LM-1 and have had it for about 5 years.. I dont
have the rpm and recorder so I need a second person or video
it while driving and call out the rpm.. unless your video
can see both the A/R and the tach

I have an Innovate LC1 for a wide band controller for my EFI.

It was about the cheapest on the market at the time and I think the new one (LC2?)is too.

It takes a little longer to install and remove than the LM1 but it has data logging capabilities when used with a laptop.

You may think you don't need data logging but it will make your tuning life much more pleasant if you have it.

right there... log it if you can. ive had a couple lc1's over the years. I thought they were OK and work well for the price. I have had wonky sensors, but new ones are in stock at the local parts store.

bro dave says otherwise, depends on how much you want to spend:

The best wideband for the price is NGK AFX.

It's control logic was developed by the same guys at ECM, who make lab grade widebands. I have a AFX in my Srt and I tune with a lab quality ECM AFM1000(+$1500), they're dead on to each other. The AFX also uses a more reliable and accurate NTK sensor.

Not a fan of AEM. The cheapest wideband on the market is rarely worth buying. Most AEM show around 1/2-3/4 point lean at WOT when compared to my AFM1000.

Things happen very quickly in the world of A/F ratios and RPM. Without the ability to review and interpret graphs, you are missing a lot of info. Details and trends are very important and can often only be seen in the graphs. Logging with RPM is essential.

It was mentioned above that one brand showed a leaner WOT A/F ratio than another. Not a big deal. The WOT ratio displayed in not what is important. WOT A/F should only be set by the engine's response. Such as best MPH at the track or through dyno sessions and with plug readings. There is no universal A/F ratio that all engines make the best HP at. Just a range. So a wide band can not tell you if you have the optimum WOT ratio, but it can tell you if you have the WOT fuel curve right. Which again would be very difficult or impossible to see without a graphed log.

Sheldon, I have a LM-2. It has rpm and data logging capabilities. I like it very well. You can find them on ebay or go straight to the link previously provided at innovate. They've gone up a bit since I purchased mine, but as stated earlier they're invaluable... twocents

Very true... a lot of people think there is some magic number
on the A/F and there isnt... like you said.. every engine is
different.. the A/F readings are great if you make changes and
need to get back to the A/F ratio... when I tune WOT.. I set
for the best MPH THEN take a reading so I have a reference point
and I dont set idle with it either.. get it to idle the leanest
but the best you can get it to idle
