I'm going through the original AVS for my Sport Fury's 440 (4429S), and it appears that I'm missing the plugs the cover the air bleed passages: A8_4429S_Carb_Restore-22 by clair_davis, on Flickr A8_4429S_Carb_Restore-23 by clair_davis, on Flickr A8_4429S_Carb_Restore-24 by clair_davis, on Flickr I rebuilt this carb right after getting the car (back in 2005), and frankly I don't remember if the plugs were in place or not. I can't imagine it would run right if they weren't in place, and I only pulled the original carb because the choke wasn't working right. The new rebuild kit doesn't have them in it, and I don't have another AVS sitting around. I'd like to know if there are replacements out there, or if I have to cook some up on the lathe. Shouldn't be too tough, but will take some time I could put elsewhere. Thanks! Clair

doing some thinking and i need to make a "correction". those are not mixture screw plugs. somebody corrected me on this, their reply is missing, and they were right. those plugs cover the transfer slot machining. i took a pic of plugs i pulled out of a junk carb. they'er alum, but a piece of lead will work.
sorry, with the new stuff i can't get a picture to load.

Strange - some posts are missing. Unfortunately, I found a photo I took a couple weeks after I bought the car and it clearly shows the plugs in place: Sooooo... it's my bad that they're missing. Oops. Got most of one finished on the lathe last night, but if that doesn't work I'll look in to some other options. Rats... Clair

https://buy.walkerproducts.com/carbureto...components.htmlThey have two size lead balls, 1/4" and 19/64" I believe. 83-4 LEAD BALL ( 1/4” ) 83-6 LEAD BALL ( 19/64” ) If either will work you can get it from them.
They say there are no such thing as a stupid question. They say there is always the exception that proves the rule. Don't be the exception.
