I was planning to buy a TTI dual exhaust for my 67 383 dart, but the Jeg's kit offers the same features and materials for about 500 less. Has anyone used the Jegs kit? It's designed to fit Hooker headers, but I'd be inclined to stay with tti headers....has anyone tried the jegs exhaust with tti headers? Thanks!

I just put one on my Demon. I have Hooker headers, but not the ones they specify to use with the kit. I also changed a few things, like added some cut outs and used the factory tips. If you have it exactly as they spec, it might be a true bolt on. I ended up cutting and fitting pieces to make it work, and actually had to use pieces in the incorrect position. Overall fit is probably about 6/10 on my application. I'd have been money ahead having an exhaust shop custom bend a system.

Spent hours working it to fit correctly but overall it works Just be prepared to work on it a rack would have made it easier

I have the A-Body Jegs kit on my '89 Diplomat which has crate 360 and TTI Headers. The car did not come with dual exhausts, so I had to shift the gas tank over slightly to right, and extend fuel fill tube. A little modification was needed on driver's side (the stock single came out passenger side) where front seat mounts. Overall though, I would say it is a very nice kit and I have been happy with it. I got the kit without mufflers, and added Walker Quiet Flows.

Facts are stubborn things.

Not anywhere near the same features as a TTI system.
No X or H pipe.
Universal hangers instead of TTI´s OEM type hangers.
Piece of crap flanges on the reducers(if reducers are included)
Not made for headers with collectors that point inwards.
Cheaper mufflers.
Have seen pics of those systems installed and they are not anywhere near as nice fitting.

The Jegs/Summit exhaust are made by Heartthrob. While they are a third the price of TTi units, unless you e got the Hooker Super Comp headers, they won't come close to fitting with TTi headers. Ask me how I know... I was under my 70 Superbee tonight trying to get mine to fit. Everything from the mufflers back fit fine. Everything from the fronts of the mufflers to the headers is pretty useless. I ended up using my TTi collecter adapters, a pair of Walker 3" ID to 2 1/2" ID reducers, reversed the exhaust pipes end to end, cut them in two, added a Summit H pipe, tossed out two short pieces that go between the mufflers and exhaust pipes, stubbed the exhaust pipes to the mufflers and clamped it all together. I've got 14 hours into it. Never again.

I have used both the A-body and B-body systems. The B-body needed some minor tweaking but no problems at all with the A-body.

For a $500 difference I don't mind doing some tweaking.

HTH is that relevant to an A body?

It's not.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

He said he's wanting to stick with TTi headers. the difference between super comps and TTi headers would be relatively the same between A to B body. Hookers are shorter and don't angle the same at the collector regardless, right? Everything I said about the heartthrobs fitting well from the mufflers back applies to A bodies as well.

That's how the hell it is relavant, thank you very much. p

I used the Jeg's exhaust as spec'd. Hooker Comp headers on a small block in a '74 Duster. It fit togther easy and nice. I trimmed the pipe at the bumper a little bit. I did not add an H pipe. The H pipe would have been easy to do though.
Place it close to U joint for an easy install.

Your issue I believe will be the customization of the pipe from the muffler to the header. TTI says there adapter kit fixes this. Go to there web site to see there idea of a fix. (LOL) it will work. Not my idea of listing a fix though.

Perhaps the pipe in the kit can work without a major rework. Now that I have a 400 B in my '71, I don't see to much of an issue. I guess it is also a matter of the tools you have on hand and how well you can problem solve the piping issue.

Youre right I overlooked those differences. Good response, thank you

I imagine it will be pretty similar for the A body. Thanks for your input!

Worked for many years with exhaust and became sort of picky on details

I realize my reply might seem alitle harsh and want to add that i think the Summit/Jegs kits might be a fairly good value for what they are but i think the TTI kit is quite a few notches higher in my simple opinion

No it won't.

I have three of these kits on A body cars. 2 cars with tti and they required some reworking of the headpipes. I also placed the mufflers on the car the way they are supposed to go which greatly reduced install issues.

I bought a Pypes kit for my B engine 68 Barracuda. Installing it was the easiest thing that I've done to the car since I gutted it for the restomod. I had to trim one of the headpipes-that's it. It took a couple of hours on the ground by myself. I don't have any pics right now, but it fits tight to the body, just textbook.

I can't speak about the Jeg's kit but the Summit kit I bought for my 70 Dart didn't fit very well at all. I didn't feel like wrestling with it laying on my back under the car so I took it to an exhaust shop to have it installed. They had a heck of a time trying to get it to fit and had to mod it quite a bit. In the end, the head pipes off of the collectors (TTI headers) and the passenger side tail pipe had to be cut and rewelded to get them to fit. I would never buy another one of those kits again. Next time I will pay the extra and have the exhaust built at an exhaust shop.

The Summit kit I put on my duster fit pretty well. I did shorten one pipe a bit but I expected to have to modify it considering I wasn't using the Hooker headers the kit was designed for. No big deal, I have a welder and a chop saw. The local exhaust shop told me it would cost between 400 and 450 for them to do me a 2.5 inch exhaust and, of course, that's not mandrel bent. The summit kit at 210 was an easy choice for me and I would rather do the work myself as I don't really trust other people to do things to my liking.

And no doubt that they would argue about getting 2.5"

Around here I've been told "nothing needs 2.5", 2" would be fine"

No thanks.
